Does anyone have a link that explains exactly how to use it and what it costs? If not, here are some of my questions.
You use a checking account right? I think 16 is the age you can open your own checking account? Does it cost anything to start a paypal account? How much does it cost everytime you use it?

Would I want the personal account or the premier account? I couldn't find on how you get money to your paypal account? Do you need to put money into your paypal account or does it just use your regular checking account?
It just pulls the money straight out of your checking account for you automatically.
Sign up is Free for the basic and premiere accounts. The only difference between the two is the basic account cannot receive debit or credit card payments. So if your selling something on ebay, the buyer cant pay you with a credit card or debit card unless its a premiere acct. You do not have to have a checking account to have a paypal account. You could open a premiere account and have some one pay you and it would be in your paypal account. You could in turn use that money to buy something. So in essence paypal would become your checking account. Any payments made to the paypal account remain there till you transfer the money to your checking account. You do have to pay a small fee if money is paid into the account.
I think I am going to get the personal one. Can I make my personal paypal account before I have my checking account or does it need my account number when I sign up?

how do i pay someone using that if it's not like on ebay or w/e, like he makes me an offer and to use paypal...how do i pay him?
Ask him/her for their paypal's adress. It'll look like a normal email, like "
[email protected]".
Then just click something like send money and enter that in.

Yep on any incoming money, they take 3%. If you send money, whoever receives it pays the 3%.
sellers who accept credit card via paypal get charged 3% if I'm not mistaken. I only buy things using paypal and have never been charged anything.
If you recieve money from somebody using paypal you get charged. If you just send money you wont be charged.

If you sign up for paypal first you can always add your bank account info later at anytime. Either way will work.
If you have two email addresses you can have two Paypal accounts. One basic and one premier. Only the people who want to pay via credit cards to paypal need to use the premier account addy, and you can add 3% to cover the PP fees, if you desire. Buyers who are transferring funds within Paypal can do so on the other account, and you won't see fees. This is why you see eBay auctions that require bidders to have paypal accounts (you've seen that, right?)...it let's the seller avoid another 3% loss in fees.

They are now but not when paypal started it was an independent enterprise. When I joined in 2002 I dont think ebay owned them yet.
Ebay isn't stupid. They saw another end of the deal they could own, and bought them out. Kinda like owning the portapotty rentals at a chili festival.

LOL! Bidpay sucked too, more people where using paypal. I wish I would have bought ebay stock way back when before the bubble popped, that and apple stock. When I got married in 1995, my father gave me 2500 bucks as a wedding gift. Apple stock was $8 a share. I had a choice between the apple stock and a used 94 Honda civic, all my friends (PC users) said apple was on its last legs, but I disagreed. Alas, I needed the car more so I bought it. A year later Apple stock was $115 a share. Doh!
So buy it now and we'll have this discussion again in 2016. It will go up.
I think apple stock is $70 a share and ebay is $35 a share. I dont have the money to do anything significant at those trading prices.
It's all about percentages, not dollars....look for the yields, not the stock price.

I'm aware of the performance, yet still is not a viable investment for me until my wife starts work again, and even then I would invest in mutual funds first.
