man yesterday guys i tried to start my sp2 and the darn ofna starter that i have could not turn my v-spec , its fully charged i heated it up with a blow dryer to about 175 and the starter charged for a full two days. The compression on the tdc is to much i have to use pliers to pull the wheel so piston isnt sitting in tdc. I dont understand what is the problem i even took the hole thing out oiled it up and try hand turning it . it turns but hard as hell i cant get it to start . I called my locaL HOBBY shop and they dont even know why its not turning . Ive done everything possible to try to get this thing to atleast start but there is to much compression . what should i do guys? I am at work right now and im going to my shop to drop off my buggy after work . could it be a faulty engine or is it really supposed to be this hard to start for the first time. ? if i cant get this thing broken in by friday i wont be able to participate in the race this weekendSad
loosen your glow plug to relieve some of the compression. Then have the box wheel spinning already when you hit the flywheel. Before hand blow into your pressure fuel line to get fuel into the carb. Once the engine starts make sure you retighten the plug

Also I am assuming your box wheel is aligned with the flywheel, making good contact.
man i tried that last night is still wouldnt turn over. the tightness at the top is crazy tight. its pointless to blow the fuel in there if i cant turn it a full turn to even start. but i did try that....im not sure what to do?
i even took the plug out and its still tight the plug im using is a p5 i think but when its out all the way it still gets stuck at the top
All new engines are a bear to start the initial time.
I am available to help you on Wednesday night if you want to drive to my house. I will get that thing started as long as your box is charged and it's not defective. I could help you break it in as well.

I may be helping someone else the same night but that is just to tune a motor and won't conflict, I can help both of you. Let me know if this sounds like something you want to do.

I don't think the Vspec is faulty but anything could happen so.....
where do you live i work till about five everyday
I live near Romeoville in Plainfield. Probably 20-30 mins from you (assuming 79th and Harlem)

I work until 5pm also and if you wanted to stop by around 7pm, that would be fine.

If your interested in that PM me and I'll provide my address for mapquest.
party at tex's........I'll bring the burgers. who's going to bring the charcoal????

lol j/p
I have a gas grill Smile
lol...........ok then whos bringing plates and napkins?
Plates and napkins? Who's burger lasts long enuff to set down??
back on topic guys, I didn't mean to particupate in the madness.
the P3 is the only plug to run in that motor, it is much hotter and may be easy to start if u use it for the first time
take it apart and make sure there is nothing in the way of the con rod movement..........................sorry for the hi-jack earlier
if he can turn it over with pliers im sure its just the pinch

good point........didnt realize he said that
well?? You guys get it figured out?
heat that bish up! please dont start it with out getting it to 200! and every time there after heat it up till at least 1.5 gallons... my nova p5 has 2 gallons on it and it STILL got stuck on the top many times last sat.
my plus 21-5 has a little over a gallon now and still needs a heat gun. The starter box cant even turn it over once without getting stuck at the top lol.
Shy, what the heck happend?? did you manage to get it started???
ohh yeah finally after like three hours i did i just have to tune it but that it also a very slow process letting it run for a little the turning it off .... i need a website that has engine tuning 101 or somthing like that a sticky
that is probably the easiest motor to tune, its all about power tuning lol go a couple hours on the needles, unlike some of these high end italian race motors where 1 hour changes it like 30*. lean out the top end until it doesnt gurgle and u hear a crisp power band at top end, then lean up the bottom, or richen depending on heat so that it doesnt bog but will load up a bit after 10 seconds and u should be good
is there one that has some pictures on it ? by this i mean a tuning website or somthing
