man guys i thought today would be the day when i can break in my sp2 but i cant seem to get my starter to turn my o.s v-spec i have a ofna starter but it seems like it can turn my engine to start it theres so much compression at the top that it just gets stuck what should i do ? i was thinking maybe heating it up with a blowdryer or somthing. i know my starter it good enough its made for 1/8 scale but it just burns through the rubber wheel when the piston reaches the top of the shaft. I even tryed taking out the plug but its still hard as hell to turn... i need help:mad:
first make sure the wheel isnt hitting the chassis, u can also heat it up like u said and that should be fine, also u can try losening the plug until it starts up
Get a heat gun and get the temps to like 250 before you start to turn it over. Also make sure there is oil inside the engine now before attempting to turn the motor over. Worst thing you can do is try to force the piston to the top without any kind of lubrication. I know just before each tank with the plus 21-5 I took the plug out and put like 10 drops of 3-1 oil in before cranking. These high end racing motors have tons of compression and the oil and heat gun will get this motor to fire within 5-10 seconds I bet.

Definatly do what Mike said and make sure its aligned properly on the box and get a heat gun. It will make your life so much better.
ok ill try i kill the battery on my starter so its charging but the hair dryer should be fine right? from looking at the back of the engine where the exhaust hole is the part the hits the wheel should be going clock wise right?
what kind of oil im not sure if i have it
i have a heat gun
just use a blow dryer u can get it up to around 200 with that, and thats prolly th hottest this motor will run once broken in lol Smile u dont need the oil, I had a vspec and it along with almost everymotor i have had comes dripping wet on the inside with oil for storage etc, if u add any more there is a good chance of fouling out the plug, once its broken in change the plug and u will be good to go, running it rich during breakin kills the plugs lol if u really wanna add the oil any marvel mystery oil or after run oil will work fine
From the back of the box were you push down the starter wheel should be spinning counter clock wise and the flywheel should be spinning clock wise. I use 3-1 oil. I love that stuff. Gets all over on the inside and does a fantastic job of getting everything oiled. Plus when you star the car all the access oil gets burned off. A hair dryer should be fine. At least enough to to get it spinning. And to my previous post i meant to say 150 degree's lol.
ok i tried again i used the hair dyer got it up to 150 and nothing still cant turn it i dont know what is wrong
maybe your starter box batteries are just to drained. Is it a gel cell or stick packs?
should i put a little fuel from the top first, or try turning it with no plug in it ? what should i do
its a big black box, it not a stick pack ..
could it be spinning the wrong way ?
its a gel cell. You need to leave that charge overnight to get it all the way up. Thats the only way your gonna get your motor to turn over is with a full charged battery.
if it turns the other way it will just start in reverse lol
man i feel like throwing the starter box it only get it to where the piston hits the top of the shaft then doesnt have enough strength to turn it past the top i have to use my pliers to free it from the top of the piston
do you have to charge it over night?
it needs a good overnight charge with one of those wall chargers, or if u have one of those like chargers for car batteries set it to like 5 amps and charge it on that but i wouldnt go charging it at 10 amp or anything...stick packs are a good investment
you got a gel cell so yes you do. Its a 12 hour charger if its the one that just plugs in the wall.
when i bought it it has juice in it or is that the way it comes with a little in it then you have to charge them all the way up over night
ya it comes with a tiny bit of charge in it, it needs to be charged overnight
ok well i guess ill put everything away charge it over night then try again after work tommorow>
Having rediculous pinch during breakin can be a pain!

Try push the truck down on the starting box just enought to get the wheel spinning but not touching the flywheel. Let that sucker hit full speed and then go all the way down quick. If you can get the initial inertia to get the motor to turn over at least once, you should be ok.

Also, 150 isn't enough. Warm it up some more.
well im going to charge it over night then try again with a full battery im just trying to get this thing broken in before this weekend of "THE CURE" but ill try again tommorow , also it hard as hell in kyosho mp777 to see the fly wheel with all the fuel tubing and things in the way.
u shouldnt have to see the flywheel, do u have the chassis all lined up right?
