Hey, I'm in the process of rebuilding my Revo since I got my parts in today

But the front and rear diffs are giving me trouble

I got the gears in, diff fluid in, and the pinion/ring gear is on

But either it won't move at all,or moves a little, then locks, and only goes back and forth to a certain point

So I loosen the screws, and it works fine

Then I put the diff inside the case thing, and tighten it down, then it does the same thing, even if I loosen the screws all around

I got it to where the diff is fine, until I put it in the housing, then the same thing happens


Any idears whats wrong?




Sorry about the double post, after I clicked post, it went to an error screen, so I did it twice

is the pin that sits in the back of the sun gear ( the two Bigger gears inside the diff) Lined up and sitting correctly in the slot in the back of the gear????

I know its happend to me a few times , everything will work fine till i tighten it up, then its locked... Usually its that pin coming outta the slot and jamming things up

When everything is tightened up, there is a little play in the pinion gear. It can slide in and out just a tad in the housing. If you push it in, it'll bind and lock up. If you pull it out, everything will spin freely. Mine did that too when I was rebuilding my spare diffs a few days ago. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Once installed in the truck you'll be fine. Mine works .

Yeah, I rebuilt both diffs and it was fine

But installing the tranny trying to get the brakes attached to the rear diff has forced me to make my wheel wrench a hitting and throwing wrench mash:

It usually goes together fine, I dunno what's with it tonight :confused:

I got another problem

When I'm trying to get the tranny installed, it just won't go in because the center front driveshaft assembly is too long, while the center rear driveshaft assembly is too short

i don't know what is wrong with it, it all flew together before

Anyone have this problem?

When you attached the half shafts onto the tranny, you probably put them backward. Front and rear center driveshafts are different lengths.

I hate it when you just cant get something right and then it hits you at some crazy hour when you just dont have the time to work it out! it happens almost every day at work for me!

Got another stupid problem

Front body post won't screw in..Know why? Cause there's no hole to screw it in!

I have no idea how this happened, I made sure the diff was pointing up the right way, looked around, but still no hole to screw it in?!


Edit: And don't ask me how it screwed in before!

dont you mean 180 degrees?

I have the post going in right, and it's on the spot for the hole in the chassis, but there's no hole on the diff or bulk to thread in a screw

I feel like such a newb now

If its body mount holes then its drilled all the way through so it should still be there on either side. If its not on the 1 side turn it 90 degree's and it should be there.

My question is-Where is the hole for the screw to thread in?

I can't have switched the front and rear bulks/diffs..And I dunno what else could cause this

You're missing the part that clips to the chassis. See those 2 squares cut out next to the hole where the body mount screw goes? Theres a piece that clips in there on the bottom side. It provides the threads for the screw and is also a brace that keeps the diff from swinging upward.

I got pissed and just zip tied it down..Ooh that makes me angry that I spent all that time and effort getting it all fixed, and I just needed a clip..Grrr


Thanks alot! I already got the front end together, and don't want to do it again, so I might save it till next rebuild..
