Just curious....the buzz engine of choice used to be the OS .18TM ...everyone seemed to HAVE to have this engine, now the 3.3 seems to be the new bandwagon poster child. It seems like everyone just HAS to get one.

I'm not in anyway putting down this engine, I just want to see if anyone has any thoughts on this.
I know a bunch of people were having problems with the OS not having a very long lifespan. That and the fact that the 3.3 is bigger, and supposedly more powerfull. Not to mention that Traxxas will send it with the Engine replacement program, bringing the price to lower than the OS.
I would assume these are the main selling points for the engine
Crap... I hope I don't have that problem. I just bought the 18TM for my revo. After the fits/aggrivations I've had in the gallon I've run my 2.5R and the 2.5 I ran in the distant past, I didn't want another traxxas engine to tick me off.
How quickly everyone forgets why everyone left the Traxxas motors. They suck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Granted the OS .18TM/TZ had problems but that's been pretty much solved with the RD Racing wristpin spacer.

Frankly there's no manufacturers jumping on the .18 or .20 bandwagon. With all of the Revos out there why do you think that is? I really don't know but I'm guessing it's economics and/or they don't think the SMT class will be around long. From what I've seen the growth of the truggies will be the death of the Revo racing class in the next 2 years.

How do they suck? Just by the comment alone with nothing to back it up tells me its user error. And everyone is jumping on the band wagon. IMO theres no reason to get any other engine now. Traxxas's motor is a .20 at 135 shipped and has the same amount of runtime per tank as the stock 2.5r. Produces more power, tunes easier, and overall is better. Plus it just drops in.

This all coming from the person who a few months ago had the theory, "If it isn't a REVO, it isn't worth owning..."

If the Traxxas engines are crap, why have more people gotten longer lifespans out of them, and in a lot of instances, equal or better performance? Before a faulty exhaust pipe shortened the life of my 2.5, it would run side by side with most OS18's, and pass others.

I know I'm on my 4th tank of break-in and my 18TM has quite a bit more power already then the 2.5R did with only a gallon on it. It's a lot more responsive.
I got out of the small block stuff, and don't plan on going back... BUT traxxas motors are not junk IMO. I liked my trx2.5 more than the 3 OS .18 CV-Rs I had.
I love traxxas motors, my last one i got 9 gallons out of, I have a 2.5 and
2.5R with both under a gallon on, I just wish they could hold a tune better, but the power for the size of them is amazing.

Ya know mich ... If this was 6 months ago all you would do was spout off about how great the O.S. was... Now your alll about the TRX stuff... Seems like what ever you have is the greatest thing in the world...Rolleyes
that was before I found the problems with them. They have awesome power and tune really great they just dont last worth a damn. Took me a few before it sunk in that the motor just sucks. And I never knocked about the traxxas stuff. Just exploring the aftermarket at the time and now im back to traxxas.
ok
dont we all think the stuff we own is better than everything else ???? seems like a no-brainer to me.
uhhh no... We think YOUR stuff is the best richy!!! LOL!!!
I htink everything Rich has is better!!!
LOL at Rocco same time also
He brings up a true statement tho. I think its time I admitted to what ive done and improve upon it. I just get so excited when something works above my expectations and have to make sure the world runs it because it worked great for me. Now im just getting my money's worth and the 3.3 definatly is a bargain IMO for what you get from it for power.
LMFAO you guys crack me up....

I bet you guys were talking on the phone and came up with that....

"OK Rocco, Hit submit now"
Lmao @ Rich
jealous you werent on three-way calling rich??? pssst!
