I want to attempt to machine my own chassis braces for my LSP as a project to keep my busy in metals class... what grade of aluminum should I use???

Thanks. Big Grin
7075 all the way dude....

+1

7075 = the only grade of aluminum that should be used for RC parts.
Gotcha. That is what I thought but wanted to make sure...

I know they use a different grade for the heads (6061 I want to say) but I think it is more brittle. If we don't have 7075 in the shop I will make some parts for test fit and order some 7075... then I will machine the real ones...
If you feel like making any revo parts...lmk I could be a test dummy lmao...
Yes I think dummy would be the correct term. I don't know... I can see doing these right taking quite a while. If I have time maybe I will make you a block that you could use to keep that thing on the ground so you stop breaking chit... LoL.
i need a 7075 revo chassis thats got the 30mm extension on it.
That would be a pain in the ass to try and machine... I dont think I can get it milled at the apropriate angle or I would at least attempt it. I guess I could mill it and then bend it... I don't know what temp you need to do it at to keep its strength though.

That would be kind of nice...like a lead weight. Could I get a lightweight lead weight?Big Grin
I guess you would need something to fill the void in your head...

No im talking about machining all the bent edges with the machine with no bending so that way it stays super freaking stiff. Il trade you my setups for the chassis. Its win win lol
LoL... The only way it would be close to win-win would be if I still had a revo. LoL I know it can be done but the price would be outrageous and I can't do it with my current resources...
im talking about with my truggy.
Don't you have a Jammin??
hellfire. Same setup on them all just different trucks with very little differences

Uhh....no you weren't lol..

I knew that you had a hellfire. :o: Oops... LoL How different is your setup from everyone elses?? My setup is almost a direct copy of several run at LH...
I cant tell you till i get my chassis Wink
LoL... Well I know that the hellfire arms are no match for the LSP ones so I hope I don't have to accidently stop in the middle of the straight...Big Grin

Good thing I'm not in your class anymore...you'd probably be like "oops, my failsafe just kicked in and you rammed my truck taking out your front arms..Too bad huh?" lol...
I am changing the title of this thread to something like "LSP Braces" ? people searching through looking for specific threads that relate to them have no idea what this thread is when it's titled "say I was going to". Some people don't read every thread or post on this board they only search and look through what relates to them.
We don't have the right aluminum and by the time I get the stock and waste all of the time I could have the king headz ones. I'm not making my own...
