After the last 2 times at the track and suffering breakage with 10 minutes both times, I think it's time for a full clean and rebuild.

I did a quick inspection of the truck the other day and noticed lots of stuff needing replacing, cleaning, and rebuilding.

Here is what I noticed:

1. The truck no longer rolls very well. After looking around, a few of the drive cups are worn out pretty bad causing binding in the driveline. Seems to run ok under throttle, but make it's very jerky when pushing the truck manually.

2. The integy shocks are junk, as I've already blown 3 shock shafts pretty bad. At least with the stockers I could bend them back after bending the shafts and continue racing. Not with the integy's. Those things simply sieze up. Since half the stock shocks leak oil, they will be rebuilt and thrown back on the truck in place of the integy's. Rocco, if you read this. What was the email address you used to complain to integy in order to get the updated shock shafts?

3. The bearings aren't as smooth as they used to be either. Probably exposed to too much dirt. There's a real nice sonic cleaner at my work. I'm gonna toss those bad boys in there for a few minutes and it should do the trick Smile.

Hopefully when all is said and done the truck will once again race like the raped ape it was a few months back Smile.
John. go to integy.com Click the contact us button and write them a letter telling them just how shitty thier lame ass product is and they will send you new shafts and shock ends....... Just dont think there going to do it quickly i didnt get mine for like a month. I bought the hpi aluminum shocks and said the hell with integy and alllllllllllll there shitty product!!!!

eeewwwwww
My thread is getting hijacked!! Time to try and get it back ontopic.

Update: The front suspension is cleaned and rebuit minus the center drive cup. That thing is toast. The shocks are completely torn down and wating to be cleaned up. All the o-rings have been thrown out and I'm waiting for the new ones to come in (along with the new drive cups). After the schocks are done, the rear suspension in next, followed by the center (everything else).

I'm taking pictures along the way and I'll post it all up after I'm done with the truck.
Did you check your diffs???? Thats alota work to dig one of those babies out . Maybe now is a good time to take a look.....
Yep. The truck is getting a FULL tear down. Front diff is in great shape. God bless the 4 spider gear mod.
My diffs were ok too when i did the 4 spider mod. The cups were slighty worn but the spiders were perfect along with the ring and pinion. I think it was because it was a .21, I heard that the diffs were stronger in the older savages. I went with GH aluminum diff cups and 50k in the front and 30k in the rear. Hopefully i wont have any diff problems for awhile. (fingers crossed)
Well, time for another update.

All the parts came in, but I screwed up the order and didn't get enough o-rings to do the shocks. Off to the al's to pick some up. No hpi one's, but they did have ae one's. Turns out, that those are a touch bigger than hpi's. So off to the internet again to order some.

Now that time is running out (I want the truck done before my 4 day break from work), I went ahead and put the shocks off to the side and started on the rest of the truck. The rear is done, requiring only a drive cup to be changed out. Tonight I'm doing the center (everything else) right after work and I'm going to reassemble the truck so I can take it home.

I'm almost there.
John your the only guy on the planet that coulld drag a general savage rebuild for this long......... Wink
