Looking to upgrade my steering servo for my Maxx. I am currently using the JRZ590(garbage). What are some good options out there? Do I really need 200oz. of torque? Any suggestion would be appreciated Smile Thanks

+1
+2!!!!!!!!!!!
if you go digital you don't need as much torque. Digital has 10x the holding power as a standerd servo. just some thing to think about. I like the ace servos good price and bilt by futaba.

Are the ace servo's digital? Also dont forget with all that much more holding power also comes a lot more battery drain. And ive never had any holding problems with my 359z. Not knocking you or anything just stating my results.
some ace are digital (the good ones) I ran a 1200mah pack all last year and It would last all day at the races . I dont know if that's good or not. you are right the 359 is a good choice but there is some other good ones out there. I have had no problems with my TI hitec. but they cost a lot more than the $39.00 hs645 that everybody has blown up. I did have a 359 for a short time and it was ok but I could tell the digital servo made my truggy hold a line through a turn a LOT better.... just my .02
wanna trade servo's for a run? I really am debating about the new hitec one. 5955. Ive had no luck in the past so im really hesitant to get one.
I had the same problem I HATED hitec but tried it anyway. they are nice servos I ran 2 in my truck and 2 in my buggy since round 2 and have not had a problem. I just got some ace servos to try and use the hitec as back up. you can try one there always in my pit bag just come over and grab one....
sweet, thanks john. If i like em would you be selling any? I need 4 servo's for my new rides plus backups lol
I here good things about ace from several people. I've got 2 of these coming from amain. Looks I ordered right before they went on backorder Smile.

I vote for Futaba 9451, my favorite servo whether it's on steering or th/br...it can do both awesome.
Since we're in a steering servo upgrade thread I have to ask (again) how much torque is enough? Revo comes with 2 @80oz. If 80oz is too little, is 160oz too much but easy for them to do? Is 120oz fine for a stock weight Revo running Revo width (Python) tires? Sure 200oz is nice, but comes at a price. And...speed is rated at full load weight ratings, so how fast are they at less than full load? Any faster or still the same? This whole servo thing is confusing unless you simply have $125 and are willing to spend it.
I was using a hitec945 (145oz) on my revo and it turned without problems. Now i'll be using one that has around 180oz. Will it turn better? faster? I'll find out that's for sure Smile
I used the 9451 on steering in my supermaxx (almost 10lbs) and it was amazing, Literally..... Fastest steering I've ever seen and cranked the tires from side to side very easily with the truck sitting on the ground still.
Good info. Thanks guys.
On this subject...

Is $86 shipped a decent price for an Airtronics 94358z?
