Took the head of the 18tm a few minutes ago to see what it looks like in there. Last sunday the truck overheated twice on me. The highest I temped it was 380

Here's what it looked like. Doesn't look to good to me. What do you think?

Is that metal scraps on the head or pitting etc?
were are your head shims
yea whats up with all of the scratches around the edges of the piston? otherwise that looks just like my 2.5r does after 5+1/2 gals on it...
Time for a new motor.....Damn two motors in one day, sheesh....
Looks like someones rear bearing in taking a dump.
Welcome to wonderful OS TM.
Kinda looks like Firesprinks did, when the inner bearing seal exploded.
Head shim is on the table. I took it off before the photo shoot. The piston has little scrape marks, and so does the head. As if a little tiny piece of metal was bouncing around in there.

If a plug goes bad to where the wire breaks off, could the little pieces cause this much damage? Or did something else get in there?
Looks like Rich and I had the same thought... lol

Just another reason I don't think I will be investing in an OS engine.

But Trinity is releasing a .20 drop in for the Revo. Idea
Thats the bearing Tune.
Sucks dude.
Dang I post slow. Like 3 posts squeezed in just a few minutes.

Rear bearing huh? What are the chances I blow the rear bearing on 2 motors in the same day?

Would this explain the high temps too?
If they are OS......chances are good. =)
At least I lucked out with the HPI motor. That one should be warrantied. It should be at HPI's office by now.
man you got lucky....the same day we met and my front bearing went out too....stay away lol j/k

I had the front bearing on my OS .18 CV-RX go out, and Hobby Services replaced the motor.
welcome to the world of owning an os motor tune. The tm's get like that after 2 gallons
R.I.P. O.S. .18tm.

That blows john.... I hate those engines!!!

(sorry didn't edit nothing, I accidentally pressed this instead of reply...n00b)-Tex
damn, first the TM'a are worth their weight in gold, then they are worse than a pile of dog poo.....it's weird how things change
Ouch... That is what the inside of my 2.5r looked like after it went kablooey! Mine never temped over 280 though... weird. Do I hear BB?? LoL
Poor greek... when it rains it poors
LOL, now I gotta figure out what I'm gonna run on sunday.

There an awesome motor as far as power is concerned but they just dont last. If you race 2-3 gallons max you will get no matter the tuning. If you bash maybe 4 gallons because your not always pushing the engine hard. If they could get like 6 gallon they would be perfect but they dont so they suck because they only get 2 gallons.
I say get a BB or a RB323 for that thing Tune...the chassis can handle the power and if you set the slipper right the drivetrain can as well.
