Full Version: spektrum delays?

On the grid alot of people are saying that they notice a delay when using a spektrum (Module) system comparred to a standard crystal setup. Anyone on here with spektrum notice a very slight delay? (This excludes the DX3 since it's not module based)

Just asking becuase I want to go spektrum and I want it to be in a high end radio like an M11, Helios, 3PK, etc.... I am really going to try and find a KO I think.

Maybe if someone is willing they could run a tank at practice with the spek installed then switch to the crystal setup and see if they notice anything...I'm really curious about this before I drop coin.
You can run my truck Sunday if you like to see what you think. Only delay I've noticed is when you first turn it on there is a few seconds before it connects with the receiver.

rcdad i beleive that your running the DX3, hes talking about the module based spek....
i went from the switch to dsm... i had no prob of feeling diff.

i think they are nuts, dirt has its own built in delay, maybe not at lh...

gabe feel free to drive mine if you want.
Thanks slim....
theres no delay of any kind with my spektrum. I instantly noticed from the xs3 to my m8 spektrum it got at least twice as fast for response time. I had to turn both servo speeds down all the way to equal that of the xs3. Its instant servo response for mine. You can try my truck if you want.
when i went form my m8 to my m11 all my servos got faster. the m11 has the new DSM so they might have fixed things from the first run of m8 modules
and directed to johns post i have the first run of spektrum modules. My module was one from the first shipment they made.
I haven't noticed any delay at all with my M8/spektrum setup. As Michowski stated my response time went way up and I think that you will find that you have to turn it down on your radio to get used to it at first.

It would be a great setup to look into IMHO
These forums are stickly on-topic guys. Off-topic posts have been removed. Thanks for understanding.
Gabe, I read that on the grid too. In the 2005 conference, guys noticd delays in the M11 when switching from FM to Spek. But alot fo guys were saying that never noticed a difference. I'm none of us would ever be able to tell a difference.

Tex,

Try hobbieguyrc.com he has a KO at a good price that is spectrum compatable. Idea
Thanks
I do see a very very small delay with the Spektrum system. It's much less than 100ms. I have to really concentrate to see the delay. This little bit of delay has warranted spektrum to develop an HRS (for the 3pk only) system. IMO, there was more of a delay when I ran the PCM receiver/Tx crystal setup.

I noticed a faster response time going from the JR XS3 to the JR R-1 w/ Spektrum module. I didn't run the R-1 with a crystal, so I don't know if there is a delay difference from crystal to spektrum in the same radio. Going from a slightly lower end radio, to a High end radio, I did notice a difference, for the better.
