Hey all I just picked up an Ipod Nano last night.
My good buddy has one and his only says "DO NOT DISCONNECT" for a minute or so after he connects his to his PC. MIne always says disconnect, so I cant do anything with it while it is connected via the usb, any help in this matter?

I updated my itunes when I regustered it, it said I had an outdated one.

I have a Gen3 iPod. I had the same problem when I first got mine. I can't remember what I did to fix it tho.

Clicking on the disconnect tab does nothing too ?
did you try to restart your computer, uninstall and reinstall itunes, my ipod did that, but i just left it plugged in and it was fine, but i wouldnt reccomend it my friend had the same thing and he had to send it to apple. Maybe try to call customer support?
i have restarted my PC, updated the ipod to the 1.1 version and it still flashes that DO not disconeect,
Rich I can eject it from Itunes, but than I cant listen to it while it is connect to pc or do anything.
I put some pics on it, and they only stay til I disconeect it and then when I reconnect it, it updates it and erases my pics

There should be an eject symbol next to where it lists it as being hooked up, click on that and you should be able to disconnect it, I had some problems with my 30 gig but it was just from not reading all the instructions and there not being any good instructions for it. I'm looking for an IPod for Dummies book so I don't have to sit in front of the computer to read dvd.
I can successfulyy eject it, but otherwise when it is coneected it says do not disconnect all the time

wait, it says DO NOT DISCONNECT? If it does, then just let if go, the first time it could take up to a half hour to update.
It said that for like 20 hours. I just returned it and got a new one.
always do a google search for ur issues. i had the same problem with mine, and i did a google search and there was a step by step on how to fix it.
JOe what would I type in google to find the fix to this problem
just disconnect it doesnt do anything
sort of, they said to disable disk, but mine is light grey meaning I cannot unselect it. I already had it selected that I will manually uplaod songs. verses the mirror option.

Notochord, does yours always say do not disconnect?
whenever i plug mine in it says do not disconnect for a while, and then it goes away, but its a video ipod, not nano.
