I decided to check my spektrum receivers to see if they need to be fixed for the "shut down" glitch, when the antenna is installed wrong..

heres what it shows on the spektrum site...

Well, neither of my receivers are hooked up like that at all... the boards don't even look the same.

any suggestions? I sen't an e-mail to spektrum about a week ago and havn't heard anything.
the ones in the small pics are tx modules..... not rx like you have pic'ed.

i do believe they are all soldered on in the rx.
Yeah spektrums site where you got the pix from is a bit confusing, at best.

They show and explain what to look for in the transmit module, but in the same breath are saying that this (transmit module wire routing) problem, is somehow associated with a problem of losing signals after a hard hit, which would NORMALLY indicate a reciever.

Unless of course the spektrum sytem is so revolutionary that a driver now holds his car while on the drivers stands, and navigates his radio around the track.......or lots of people toss their radios around pretty hard.

On a side note, I just purchased a spektrum setup for my KO's.
Huston we have a slight problem, on and off, bind unbind BS

Lucky me, I guess I get to send them in for the transmit module antenna wire fix and 'tune up'.

I want to send my stuff in... but it takes like a month to it back from them.
With all the problems I am having second thoughts about going spektrum.

Rob, if you need a tx for the 14th I have an extra traxxas one. I got it with my bandit, but it should still work. You just need a receiver and crystals. Wait, I have a rx, but I was having glitching problems and just bought a new one. People say that if you just take it apart and clean it, it should work again. LMK if you need to use it. You just need x-tals. I have an extra set, but I am going to use them at the race if I go.
If spektrum dont work, im not gonna race. Thanks for offering to let me use your radio gear, but im not going to pay $25 to enter a race where im going to burn out a barely used $50 steering servo
I havent heard of many problems at with spekturn
i've had no problems with mine Smile
This may sound silly, but I had a problem with my receiver too. Turns out I just had the wiring all wrong (darned spektrum wire colors!) I just flipped the tabs over in the receiver slots and the things worked great ever since. (I just have the DX3 model.)

PS I emailed spektrum before I caught my mistake and they told me the receivers didn't have any problems, just the Tx. So, unless you've been having problems (you never really said you were, so i'm just assuming) maybe you're OK and don't need to send it in?
Looks like im a lucky one also....... I had a few glitches in my gas truck main, but them for unlimited main I couldnt get the mayhem around the track even once. I took my Tx apart and the antenna wire poped off the board again. I having a problem keeping the antenna wire on. Looks like Ill be sending it in unless they give me the OK to soder that wire on. Any one else have this problem? Hope they are not too backed up. My new toy is broke
that sucks Kevin, can you just crimp the end of the plug a little to keep it on tighter?
Why would it not be ok to solder on yourself? I've popped my rx open to check it out. The antenna wire is just soldered on like on any other rx. I've never had any problems after soldering on a new wire on any of other rx's I've had in the past. The spektrum stuff is no different if you ask me.
I tryed to crimp it both times to the point where its hard to press on. Seems to pop off when I rout it under the board. This time I crimped it on again, then covered with black rtv to hold it in place. Wasnt sure if I should use that or CA glue. If that dont hold Ill probably try tacking it on with soder. Just my luck.
At least that Mayhem didnt run off and hit someone. Failsafe works well.

My problen is with the Tx and its a little diffrent with a coaxel wire and a push on connector
