I'll go first.

Nearly had sheet of drywall go through the windshield!!!!

By God's Grace I changed lanes from behind a truck on 355 near Lake Street. 2 seconds later he drives over a sheet of drywall laying on the road. Somehow, the suction of the truck going over the sheet picks it up and stands it vertically on the road just as the car next to me gets there. The car drives straight through it at 55mph!

Just around the next bend there was a small truck pulled off to the side of the road and the driver was out securing the rest of the drywall he was transporting.

I was lucky that day.

NEXT....
LADDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

see previous thread for details!
spatula.....big "cook on the huge grill" spatula. Fast lane on 290 crossing over Wooddale towards 355, a semi truck flips the spatula into the air and directly towards my car....took a chunk out of the front passenger side section of the bumper.
wow, talk about your close calls!! i would rather hit a wall then be impaled by something!
I hit a parakeet..

I thought I saw something yellow pass by my car. Then when I got home I checked the fornt of my car, and believe it or not a smashed yellow parakeet laying on my bumper just under my headlight.

I figure it must have escaped from someones house and WHAM!
oooo we hit a bird once....Eventually we had feathers come through the vent system some how....Eww that was bad lol....
going to my cabin in wisconsin driving my old 93 ford f-250 deisel and a tarp fell off a guys trailer and got stuck on my windshield in heavy traffing doing like 80mph in the rain.....no acceident....... but i thought about putting that guy into a wall...
I had a baseball sized rock go through the windshield of my first car. I was driving along and caught somehting rolling across the expressway and Wham!!! my windshield was shattered and a few small shards flew off into the car. It scared the hell out of me!

on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year in Lower Alabama I was behind a 57 chevy and a 91 typhoon going about 90mph. the chevy hit his brakes prety hard up ahead so I got on the brakes because I thought mabey he had a problem. all the sudden the road was black and all I heard was gravel pelting the wheels wells and flying all over the lace!! It turns out some idiot truck driver dumped a complete load of ashfault grindings onto the highway!!! luckily because I got on the brakes hard, early on I had a good distance form the car in front of me and I didn't get pelted with gravel on the nose of my car. The typhoon in front of me though had a cracked headlight, chips all over the nose and broken windshield. and my buddy towing his Lightning with his F350 ended up with a cracked windshield and paint chips all over the nose.
I hit a whole family of geese coming back from Michigan City in the rain. A torrentle downpour I had about 20 feet of visibility. I saw them at the last second walking in froont of my old honda civic as my headlights lit them up. There was nothing I could do to avoid them, so I hit em, mama goose and the gooslings. I heard the thud of the mother goose and was sure I smashed some of the babies. I felt terrible for awhile.
I was driving my new at that time 95 Dodge Intrepid on 290 right behind a semi. The threads on one of the rear tires came off, flew up on the windshield completely covering the my vision, I pulled a hard right without looking onto the shoulder. Nothing happened besides scaring the crap out of me.
Semis!! that reminds me. my old camaro. I was driving down the elgin ohare in the left lane.. there was an Exploder in front of me passing a semi truck. I hung back because I don't like sitting next to semi trucks. well the exploder was just about clear of the semi so I started to pass. all the sudden the Exploder get on the brakes hard. I was like WTF! then the semi truck swerved off into my lane!!! I got on the brakes and ended up on the gravel and grass on the median but the exploder.. well got ripped to shreads by the lug nuts on the semi's front wheels and it went off the road HARD. I can't believe the explorer didn't flip. It turns out there was a scrapper driving a truck that lost a Large cooler, TV and other junk in the road. This poor semit truck driver was on the verge of tears though because he knows he should have just hit the small objects and not swerved, but heck its a force of habbit. so yeah a semi.. thats the the worst thing I almost hit on the road and something I don't ever want to see happen again!! That scared the hell out of me!
speaking of semis, again lol, when i was driving on my permit; I had hockey practice at 6 am in rolling meadows. So me and my mom (she must hate me for all i have done to her car lol) set out on 90 at about 5 am. about halfway there, I found myself about 2 carlengths behind a semi and right before I started to shift lanes BAM!!! semi threw a rock into the windshield went about halfway in and stopped, right in front of the passenger side. Scared the hell outta me especially at that time in the morning
damn i must be a good driver, worst thing that ever happened or scared me was when i first got my license i was pulling out of a gas station and i was sitting behind a car waiting for him to get through traffic to pull out. I could have sworn i saw this guy step on the gas so without looking i just let the car roll forward and bumped him. That was probly the scaries thing i ever had happen so far lol.
Ok, so about 15 years ago I had this little Honda that was basically a rolling car stereo. The whole back seat was gone and had 4- 12" subs. In the front I made custom door panels holding an 8" midbass a 4" mid and 2-1" dome tweets. This thing had about 1200 wts RMS and absolutely rocked. Now, what does that have to do with the story? Just setting the stage...

So I'm up in Madison visiting my brother and we're 'shrooming in the middle of the day and racing down a country road. It's a nice summer day and I've not seen my bro in some time. We're jammin' to Triumph's "Fight the Good Fight", which is a very positive and powerful song-especially when you're tripping.

We come up over this hill and we're singing our lungs out and then" Whooomp, Thud, Thud Thud"!!! Damn! I pull over and we look back just in time to see this big dog limp to the side of the road and die. His little buddy comes up and sniffs him and seems to start crying.

We were devastated!! We just went from the highest high to the lowest low in milliseconds. No one was home so we left a note. That really sucked...
your lucky Michowski... Its a good thing that thats the scariest thing that has happened to you.
i know its nothing of a story but im glad thats all i had to deal with so far. Besides my general road rage were people dont know how to drive the speed limit i dont see any kind of accidents comming any time soon. I have made it pretty much a habit to if im going through an intersection to never have my foot on the gas. If im going down a road and i see an intersection comming were people going left to right were they have to stop and i dont i always have my foot hovering over the breaks. Ive recently noticed myself doing small things like that with my driving style. And since i bought my truck i feel superior on the streets right now like if somebody was to hit me or me hit somebody that I can almost garuntee that I will have minimal car damage and probly walk away depending on the crash. I hope that if i ever get into an accident its because somebody hits my truck bed or something behind the truck because its so easy to just buy a new truck bed and swap the 2 lol. Honestly i cant wait for my first crash because i just want to get it over with but I also dont want to be in a crash because that would just suck.
sometimes to avoid an accident you have to mash the gas, not put on the breaks.

the best thing IMO to do before entering an intersection is to look both ways, especially when your light turns green and your the first person to go.
aaahhemm, hit or almost hit on an expressway was the topic, now STOP STRAYING!!!!!

I bumped someone!! Jeez !!!
ya i was on a road trip with my family going to north carolina and we were driving along and this guy towing a camping trailer tried to change lanes to the right, then there was someone in his blindspot so he swerved back to the left, then started to lose it swerved to the right then back across all 3 lanes and right as this happened the trailer kinked and forced the like ford expedition or summin like that into the air which then the car rolled a couple times and the trailer went up in a big smash and threw stuff everywhere...lets just say around the next bend in the highway we found a pillow, and in the tree across the other side of the highway from where the crash occured there was one of the kids bikes up in a tree about 20 feet....i was in awe...and im gonna get made fun of for this but my boy scout thinking kicked in and i went and helped out for a little bit. luckily everybody was ok... all were seatbelted and the airbags worked good and i think evverybody escaped with just minor injuries. all i gotta say is i was awake for the rest of theday as i started to doze off when this crach occured.

thats just kinda a story bout driving...but ya weve hit a skunk in the pace bus...thats not fun...also ive been in cars when we sideswiped a deer...it stood there we slowed down then it bolted across the road when we went to go past it and then next thing you kno we fishtailed a bit...remind you this is in a minivan on our way to canada on a fishing trip, and when we got out at the next stop we had this huge streak on teh back of the car when the deer had nudged the back of the car...that was just wierd.

PS i only wrote this much cuz im in advisery and have nothing better to do....
hey mich, not teasing you here but alot of younger people(under 21) are not likely to survive their first accident!!! i was lucky for mine! i had just started wearing my seatbelt a week before it happened! the state trooper and the ambulance crew that showed up were both like "wow this kid isn't dead." Don't hope for an accident AVOID them!

i vote with tex here, sometimes you have to speed up to avoid an accident. when i wrecked i was on the throttle and pulling the e-brake trying to get the rear end around (with no front steering it was kinda futile(sp?))
I have been close to 2. One was in the rain... I was turning left and the light turned red. THe oncoming cars were stopping so I started to go. A pickup then comes flying around the first stopped car and slides through the intersection sideways. He probably missed the front of my car by a foot.

The other one I went to pass a guy. (normally.... not driving like an ass) Well I guess he didn't want me too. As I was halfway through the lane change the guy in front of me slammed on the brakes so I wouldn't pass and the guy I was passing sped up. I still don't know how I fit...
see freeride, that's when you get up next to that guy and throw coffee at him!
Right when you get onto 294, the 1st long sweeping left curve, there was a Webber grill in the left lane. I was the 1st to hit it in my 85 Olds Custom Cruiser station wagon. It broke the headlight and scared the hell out of me as I had just gotten my DL about a week earlier. My mom just said she was happy that I didn't die. Smile ...parents
soo...that's where that spatula came from!!!!
