ok as some of you may know i have been having a prob with my motor overheating. Well i took the motor apart today to look at the p/s and first off the pistons black as night! (figured that though, motors hit 400 a couple of times) first time it was a cut fuel line, second/third/fourth time no clue? well i pulled it apart and noticed the backplate was really lose and i was missing a screw. could this have caused a big enough airleak to throw my tune way off and cause the motor to go WAY lean! any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance!

btw i already know i can't tune so leave that hint out!
Any air leak will cause tuning problems seal it up with some RTV or that Racer's Edge stuff.
a pic of the p/s still in the motor! so you can see how bad it got!?!?!?!?!

many times the top of the piston gets black from running rich check to see if it is burnt alum or just burnt fuel residue

Like Rich said any airleak will cause problems. Goto the hobby shop and pick up some carb seal or somethin liek rich said and seal Everything. Carb backplate, a little around the HSN and the carb bolt. none on the head. Tighten everyhting up, and clean it (clean motors are happy motors) Then go out and run it over. If you have to cgo back to factory settings and go from there. If you still cant get a tune/idle or anything check ur clutch setup.
yeah my clutch bearings are shot! i just noticed that today when i took the motor out so i'm placing an order with Avid! they should last through friday though! hehe. just was looking for another reason my tune was off cause i know i'm bad but not that bad at tuning!
get the revolutions they rock!
i was looking at those! i will probably get them!
Avid's rock !!!
