I don't know if I will be able to do it for tomorow's bash but will need to do it for Saturday. My question is what is the best way and how water proof is it?? Should I RTV the boxes to water proof them or should I go the old balloon method and throw the whole thing in a balloon and then screw it back down?? Just don't want to destroy any electronics as they are all that I have right now.

plasti dip has seemed to work for everyone who has ever tried it except me.

I'm going to be ballooning my servos this time. I'm done trying plasti dip.
What's plasti dip? Were can I get it and how much?? And how long does it take to dry??

What went wrong when you used it? Did you just dip the servos? If so how did you seal up the reciever box as well as the opti drive that the revo has...

Sorry for all of the questions. The only thing I ever bashed wet was a revo in the snow. And I got lucky not sealing anything.
What bash tommrow?
at the woodridge jumps. It will probabky be wet and muddy. I am still not sure if I am going. There is also one planned for saturday and/or monday.
You can get plasti dip at the hardware store. Its made to dip the handles of tools in, it drips to a thick rubbery coating that adds grip to tools. Im sorry but i dont know what it costs
Cool. I looked it up and found it to only be about $6 or so so that isn't too bad. I don't know if I will do this for saturday or just balloon them for now.

Also... you guys just do the servos with this right?? Should I run a bead of RTV aclong the joints of the boxes that hold the electronics to form a gasket as well as where the wires enter and exit?? If I do that and spread a dab of dialectric grease at the output shaft on the servo the Revo should be just about water proof with the exception of the air intake...
the only prob with that is the rtv will harden and the box will be glued shut i think? just balloon the rx and place it in the box it should be fine!
I think it will release when you apply a bit of pressure. If not I think I could always razor blade the seam and then pull it off. I am preparing for complete submersion. :-)
uh oh!!!!! someone needs to bring a vid camera!!!

Really!!! What are you getting me??? :bustingup C'mon... I have no money right now. I need to set up an ebay account and start selling my old stuff. However, I need to get a CC first so that I can set up a paypal account.
checking account works better imo. i'm not buying you nuthin!!!! i have no money either! btw who said something about sending hitec servos in and they will replace them? would they replace water damaged servos?
well then I need to switch my savings account over to a checking account now that I am 18. I have a wakeboard, an amp and a bunch of other crap that I can sell. Would be nice to fund the future project Tivo... the Titanium Revo.

oh no not another one of you!!!! tivo/greevo!
don't forget my revo buggy conversion, the Beevo.

Or the stadium Revo, the Steve-0.
you people make my head hurt!!!!!
 I'm pissed. All of a sudden my dad is b******* at me saying that I can't run the revo when it's wet and that I can't plasti dip my servos untill he cleans his garage. I bought the thing I dont see what the problem is. It sucks even more because he won't give me a reason. That is the one thing about this hobby is that my parents hate it and do everything they can to stop me from being involved in it. I probably won't be at the bash on saturday because of this.

Wow, someone in the same position I am in with the whole parent element.

I always asked them for money to buy stuff, they said to get a job, so I did, now they give me a hard time when ever I spend money that I earned. They kept complaining about how my truck didn't run all summer even thought I kept hopping it up, now its pretty much good to go except for the front diff, and they start yellin every time I bring up going to the woodridge jumps or anything.
I tried to convert a Revo into a hummer and ended up with a HeaveHo.
Then the Dodge based Revo resulted in the Devo.
After that I customized one for a British guy and called it the By Jeeve-o.
We used to have one for on road slalom racing called the Weev-o.
that !@#$ guys! i live with my parents and as long as all my other bills get paid they really don't care what i spend on it!

He is just "keeping your best interests in mind". He knows running the expensive "toy" in the wet will/could trash it, ending up costing him more in the long run. If you do trash it, you just prove him right, so be careful. (this is from the "old man" viewpoint.)
How does it cost him more?? I pay for all of it. He said the salt will get in anyway... IT ISN'T EVEN SNOWING YET!!! I have seen what these things can take whe sealed up right. As long as you clean them fairly soon after you will have no problems. aaaaaargh....

want me to bust out the videos I have of a waterproofed maxx running in the rain, and in deep mud? Maybe you can show him and he will not be so angry.
