Hi Guys,

I'm from Jamaica and new to the forum. I'm coming to the windy city around thanksgiving and was wondering if I would be able to visit a track and/or a flying field to see some action.

I'm hoping it won't be too cold for all the tracks and fields to be closed. Looking for both on/road and off-road.

Can anybody help?

It's going to be the best indoor in the midwest, probably the world, when it's done. Come next summer, it'll be the best outdoor also.

But this Thanksgiving, you're SOL like the rest of us. Come back around Christmas for the indoor grand opening! After all, X-Mas in Jamaica has got to suck!!

Oh, and the Jato just doesn't hook up!!!
maybe with the right tires and setup his jato will hook up? Theres tons more choices besides stock tires if you want traction lol. Kinda like when your truck wasnt hooking up last sunday and you switched tires. Same things just a smaller size truck

Satoch, thanks for the link. Would love to be back for December but X-Mas in Jamaica is wicked!!! At 80 to 90 degrees theres no snow, lots of outdoor rc driving and lots of girls at the beach. What's that, no girls in bikinis in the snow?...aaawww hush, don't cry, maybe you need to come to Jamaica for Xmas.

Are you saying that the Jato isn't good or as Michowski said, I may just need a tire change?
with the right setup any truck can have traction and race depending on the driver. Savages arent made to race but rocco drives his savage like no other. Never seen a savage as fast as his. Just takes the right setup and a decent driver and it will be fine.
guess he has that savage slammed low to the ground for better cornering or at least as low as the jumps will allow.
The Jato is a fun and FAST truck. If you are not used to running 1/10 scale stadium trucks, it will be a task to get used to. If you have raced 1/10 scale before, it will be and easy switch. As with all RTR trucks/cars/etc., the stock tires aren't the best. The ability of changing the battery location to better distribute weight seems like a bit of a waste though. The center location for the battery will supposedly help keep the front wheels on the ground, but it also limits the amount of traction from the rear wheels. Keep the battery in back, and research the tires. See what works for other drivers on the tracks you run at.
As you can see by the vehicles I own, I'm mostly a 4-wheel drive man. Although I have fixed and setup a couple RC-10's for my friends, I've never really driven one long enough to have the driving down pat. That's one of the reasons why I'm now ready to add the Jato to my collection (apart from having a vehicle from each class Smile). I think the Jato should fit the bill nicely :joy:

The Jato DOES hook up! I raced one and it hooked fine. I have also owned a XXX-NT before and they are two totally different beasts. Both have their good/bad points.

Foe instance, the Jato has massive turn in speed and the losi will not turn at speed.

So Leisure wont be ready, is there any other track that might have a remote possibility of being open at thanksgiving?

BTW, can the RB t323 engine for the Maxx or Revo fit the Jato?
I'm sure you can figure out a way to stuff that RB.23 in the jato...Although then it would be too fast!
^2 fast hahaha this coming from the man that put a p5 in a revo! 1/10th scale are really hard to drive but a lot of fun! after upgrading to all graphite my losi is indestructable(besides the blown motor) they are hard to drive on the track but once you get used to it, it gets easier. throttle control out of turns is a must if you hit it to hard you'll just spin the truck! as for turning on power, with a xxx-nt it's impossible, have not driven a jato so i couldn't tell you!
I've never drive a Jato, and I know that that class is a little tricky to handle, but I have a need for speed...it can never be too fast for me Big Grin
hey squirell, graphite make a RC have less flex but you give up durability. Graphite snaps pretty easy, the benefit is it just doesn't flex....unlike plastic that flexes way more which in turn alows you to take harder hits without breaking.....or something.

If your a decent driver on the track, graphite parts will help you drive faster because of less flex all around.

If your a not so good driver graphite is your worst enemy ($$$$$ and easy to break)
for some reason tex it's the opposite for me? when i got the truck for rich the last parts to upgrade were the front/rear pivot blocks and the center support i ended up snapping the rear block and replaced it with graphite haven't broken anything since! nevermind i broke a front arm because i went WOT into a f-150 front tire! you saw the abuse i put that thing through in st. louis!

Hey Squirrel and Tex what I have found is that depending on your driving style there are some parts that can be changed to graphite without the incresed rick of them breaking, while with others plastic is just the way to go because of the flex so it wont break as easily. The trick is finding the right combination to use.
my mistake then ooops! i thought graphite was better plus i heard that the flex in plastic breaks shocks and shafts! is this orrect cause the plastic bends but the metal on the shocks doesn't? oh well i still love my losi!
no doubt the full graphite is better....if you can keep it on the track and rubber side down
thats easy for you to say! you've seen me race, rubber side down just doesn't work for me! j/k i've gotten a lot better since this last time at st. louis.
