pinching the line leans the motor for a few seconds, it will not hurt your motor at all. Running lean for a few minutes or more will hurt a motor.
Funny, there's an article in the new RC Driver on this issue. They mention all three as acceptable and even mention pinching the intake tube.
I use my tuning screwdriver (the handle side) against the flywheel to stop the engine.

Hmm. I've actually heard from a few people that plugging the exhaust to stop an engine decreases the life of a glowplug, I dunno.
I just thought today, it would be a little difficult to stop the flywheel on a Savage.
I've started using the handle of my tuning screwdriver on the flywheel also.
Gotta try that one.
When I had my Savage I always blocked the exhaust to kill. I have many o shapped scars on my finger tips. I good way to alter your fingerprints.....
Yeah, that's what I've been doing. It's a little safer than priming your engine to restart right after running it.
I have pinched a few times but mostly tap the flywheel with my shoe or finger. Only one time it didn't work and I ended up trying to plug the exhaust and pinch the line at the same time. I had a WOT runaway with my GT that managed to pin itself up against the tire of my neighbors $170,000 Mercedes (No damage thank god). I tried to hit the flywheel with my shoe but it just melted a slot in my shoe it was spinning so fast. First and only time I had that happen...
Tried the "thumb on flywheel" method yesterday. INCREDIBLE. Who would have thought it was that easy? It's just a wimpy smallblock Revo but that thing stopped and I didn't hardly feel it. I'm convinced. That's the way to do it.
I've been doing it with anything I that has flywheel access beneath. On the Savage I'm tapping the exhaust till it goes out.
big blocks don't take any force either to stop the flywheel. it's a bootyfull thing isn't it.
