I dont make excuses, I have been accusing the Cubs of being a bonehead team for years! But what I would love to see, and what I have told many in the past ( at least close friends) is that the Cubs would not win a WS until 100 years elapsed since their first appearance in one. Well this is the year folks, 100 years after getting their cans kicked in the 1906 World Series by our crosstown rivals the White Sox. Both teams first appearance and the only crosstown WS for Chicago. The Cubbies went on to become the first team in WS history to win back to back WS(1907,1908), both against the Detroit Tigers. So I think that, well I hope that the Cubs organization is cognisant of this and will push hard for a rematch. We gotta a 100 year old bone to pick!
Incidently the Cubs have made 10 WS appearances to the Sox's 5, however the Sox have won 3 of those 5 and the Cubs only 2. This does not include pre-WS play.
