Thanks to all the folks who came out yesterday. We had 5 racers, with mostly 2wd buggy/truck, a 4wd, and a 1/8th scale electric buggy.

The driver's stand turned out to be sturdy and high enough for the job. We had some more discussions about placing some jumps, getting a scoring system, and other track details.

Probably, the next race meeting would be in 3 weeks, the 17th of August, but let that be confirmed here as we get closer to that date.

Outback RC - 08-04-2008, 07:49 PM

Since the last race, another section of drivers stand is coming on line, now making it about a 6-7 person stand.

The drivers suggested that some flyers at the HobbyTowns (nearest shops I know of) would inform people who do not read forums. I thought it would be hard to publish a flyer with my fickle race scheduling, so I felt the flyer should point to a website or news group. Because I needed a website, I figure I needed a track name. So we now are known as Outback RC and can be found at outbackrc.com

Running on Sunday Aug 17 - 08-13-2008, 08:36 AM

This Sunday, Aug 17th, the track will be available for running. The scoring system is not yet here (next month), but the drivers stand is extended. Show up around 10:30 or so, or drop by later on.

Scoring System, Race Spetember 7 - 08-26-2008, 07:38 PM

The iLapsystem has arrived. The first system test was successful. To have fun and to break in the system, the track will race on September 7, the weekend after labor day weekend. Any questions, ask here. Directions -> see www.outbackrc.com.

There are only 2 house transponders. A small number of them are on consignment and can be had for $35.00.

Gerlad,

Nice to meet you yesterday at StrictlyRC.

Previous Outback visitors,

For the Spetember 7th race at Outback, I have widened the back straight to 16 feet, and I tested all the lanes under the timing bridge -- seems A-OK.

Yup. I just cleared the weeds between the track and the corn and, voila, 16 feet wide. Actually, a bit over 16 feet. Maybe I will eat into it later by expanding some other lanes. Let's see how it goes.

I have the timing bridge up today, right now. FYI, my fastest lap in 4wd is so far 13.615 s, with mid 14s being fairly regular.

There was a light turnout today, so we packed it up early (3-ish). Gerald stopped by to run some laps. Thank you.

I was much happier with the 3/4" garden hose and nice nozzle that I just picked up -- made for some better watering. I got more extension cord so the pit tables can be over in the trees, out of the sun.

There were about 220 laps run today on the xxx4. The 13.615s lap from earlier remained the fastest, with lots of 14s and a few 15s or 16s on more squirrely laps. The early track was moist from overnight and ran well with Losi Silver IFMAR Pins -- you could hear them digging into the dirt. Then a bigger pin was better later in the day when the fluff was deepening up and drying out.

Let me know who wants to come out next. I could use your feedback for next year's track.

Race, October 19th - 09-25-2008, 06:46 AM

A couple of racers mentioned that they would like to race on Sunday, October 19th, so there will be a race on that day.
