I've raced the 8B and it was pretty easy to drive if you don't drive punched. (wide open throttle all the time)

My 8B steered like a mofo as well, way better than any Mugen I've driven. It's not a pissing contest but from my experiences the 8B is a great buggy. (All the top buggies are great)

Also, it's worth noting, I drove Ponch's Losi 8B and the thing was VERY hard to drive fast and stay in control. My 8B was 100 times easier to drive fast.

It's all in setup.

As far as problems with the 8B, I never had any in 2 gallons of race time. I stripped a steering servo gear (the little white gears in the Futaba servos) but that's it. That could happen on any buggy.

Most of the people saying the 8B isn't a good buggy on this thread has NEVER owned one. you cannot really fully judge something like these cars without owning and racing one yourself (playing with setups and such).

Having fun again!!!!

lol im sure ill get flamed, but i'd much rather own a mugen, kyosho, TTR over a losi. There are too many random failures on those cars, hell look at what jimbo alone goes through. Not that it breaks easy, dont see many broken arms after crashes and stuff but jesus u can always tell if there is a losi truggy in a main because you can hear the diffs making that loud ass CRACK noise whenever the guy gets on the gas. Sorry but quality isn't there in the drive train at all

These threads are all pissing matches...-sigh-

Something on every vehicles blows ass. It's called a problem area.

When you put it on the drawing board, its all assumed that it will work well
when its a prototype it works well. Mass Produce it, a little later you're going to start seeing your problem areas, what wears out, what breaks. Where are the pieces breaking. THEN. Manufactureres GENERALLY start working on revisions. I think its only a matter of time before bugs like that are worked out. SO, Garbage from the start, Garbage always? I think not. Mugen has been using the buggy Chassis for a long time, so has Kyosho, so has TTR. So generally speaking the Losi 8B is a pretty new Chassis, and so is the 8T. All im saying is theres time for improvement. If they just lef tit that way and did nothing f*ck them but they probably will fix it. So I think we should give losi a little bit of credit, for not having an 8th scale anything really and now having designed a buggy from the ground up, its doing pretty well, minus a few bugs.

that's just my 1.50 for this thread. Cause its always this vs this. etc. For the record this is not a flame meant at anyone I think I may just be trying to be logical. Cause it does make sense. Apple fixed the first gen crappy Ipods so I think this would be kind of the same thing.

LSP lots of Khz, Werks .28 8 port.

Revo 2.5, TRX 3.3 Engine, Center Diff. Fast and Turns on a dime.

I had the losi and it was kind of hard to drive for me at least, mostly because it was my first buggy and ive never raced before. The only problems i had was stripping those little steering servo plastic inserts but theyre cheap and I got the stronger ones that losi made and it worked fine. I didint notice any wearing on the diffs or cvd's but then again I only had it for about 3 gallons.

what i mean by pushed is you cant try to go faster or it does crappy, it likes to be driven smoothly.

thx
the only problem I have with the losi is on power steering. the ackerman bushings wear too fast and put a lot of play in it. they have upgrades for this but its like 40 bucks and not sure if its worth it.

Mike- im not sure what you mean about the diffs, never had a problem with the actual gears in and around the diffs. the only problem i had with the diffs was the outdrive cup which went out after 10 gallons. the front/center driveshaft wears fast because of the ane its at. the losi 8iht really is a good buggy, but does have a few minor issues at least to me. Pmhours, if your gonig tobash and race i would get the 8ight or wait until the rc8 changes over to the TTR plastics, becasue right now theyre brittle.

TTR put out the most radical design for its time, look at pics of what stuff it has on it and think thats what came out three years ago; its a great car but it sucked balls for the first 8 months to a year atleast, not breaking or wearing out, but just didnt drive well. Now look at the changes that were made, and yet its still a piece of shit car that nobody drives. But Im talking about parts quality and material quality, they used the whole TTR drive train on the AE. It's bullet proof. The losi doesn't drive the way i like, even if it did, I wouldn't run it for the fact that I would have zero confidence in it lasting. All the guys i've talked to that race them or used to say the same thing shit wears out way to quickly. They've had enough time to solve those problems but have not. its a materials thing, not like the buggys been out 6 months. Im not flaming but just keepin it real lol

Even in last months Xtreme (or maybe it was hiTorque) They said that the losi 8 would be difficult eevn in the rtr form for a newbie since it is so sensitive

yeah, never had a problem with the ring and pinions though.

thats good they switched, that was quick. when i drove that rc8 car it had shitty acceleration, but it could have been the setup/engine

I have never had any issues with digg. gears-ring-pinion, I just went through my buggy last weekend replaced what was worn out etc etc etc and that was all the bearings (has been about 3 mths since I did bearings ) and 2 front tie rod end had some slop in them. also replaced one of the center shafts-been a yr and just now needing to replace one?! I race every weekend and even run practice once a week here and their have over 12-13 gallons on my buggy so far now.
