Hurricane ALL-STAR Carpet Series.

I know a lot of you are offroaders but if you are getting into electric TC this fall this might be a great series for you.

The series will visit three local tracks and have a class for everyone. Many of the top racers in the area will be attending. One of the nice things for new guys is the Hurricane Cup. It's a class specifically for Novice racers.

Hurricane Cup (Stock Motor, Rubber Tires, 4 minute races & mains)

The points winner at the end of that series will recieve a one year sponsorship with Hurricane Motorsports!

A little of topic here, but since you're right here, does Tinley always set their track layout the same week to week?

I was checking this out, and I was wondering if brushless system where allowed, becasue it really didn't say yeah or nea. I'm thinknig of tryong my luck in the Hurricane cup. I mean if brushless is not allowed, I will just run a regular esc/stock motor setup then.

Hey Anthony...I was just at the website. I'm wondering about the novice class. All three of us...Coop, Kole and myself have raced carpet twice, back when Venture owned the Libertyville track. You've seen Kole and Coop race at Tinley. Would we be novices because we're new to carpet, or would our outdoor on-road experience give us an unfair advantage. I'm kinda assuming bcause Kole is 7 he's a shoe-in for novice class.

Hey Bandit.....don't worry about upsetting anyone because you are new when you go to race. Generally there's two or three qualifying races before a main race and most all tracks do what they call re-sort for each of the qualifiers. Essentially what that does is places the same skill level drivers in the same heats or races.

Good racers will pay attention to you and see your skill level. It's up to them to keep away from you. you just have fun. That's what this sport/hobby is about.

A few things that will keep you from causing any probs...easy stuff to remember:

Don't use reverse during a race if you have it.

If you get stuck on a straightaway or near the straightaway just yell "STRAIGHTAWAY"...that heads up tells other drivers to look out for you. do this during practice and races.

Never turn your radio on if you don't have a frequency clip during practice..never ever...and during a race NEVER turn it on unless you are racing.

Fun...think fun.

I will defintely abided (sp?) by those rules. I want to learn to be a good wrencher, racer, and helper.
I decide to hold off on using a brushless system for racing right now, until I graduate from the rookie racer. So I have to find a good ESC for my TC4, I'm liking the Novak Dually or the GTS, ( I like the stock and modified mode on the dually), but I'm not sure it would fit in my car, it has the same footprint as the Super Rooster and the Super Rooster didn't fit in my T4, and the TC4 is a little tighter. So i guess I should measure it then.(sorry thinking outloud)
I should go out to Intense Raceway, and check out a practice, and see what I really should have for pit supplies. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm just so hyped about getting into racing. My R/C's is a great release of stress for me. Especailly after seeing doctors every week. And I can't wait till the berwyn bash as well, to meet and talk with fellow R/C junkies.

When I used a Super Rooster in my TC3 all I did was stand it up and everyhting fit. If you don't already have it get servo tape from the hobbyshop. I double the tape up by folding it over onto it self and when the ESC is standing up I make sure the tape not only covers the bottom but also go up onto one of the sides of the ESC and I plant the ESC so the bottom and one side of it get's adhered to a wall of the chassis too, so you have two points of contact. Also I like to keep a small can of lighter fluid in my pit kit. The fluid makes Servo tape removal very efficient and doesn't harm anything else, like the case of your ESC or the chassis.

I don't think it would be a problem if you all race Novice. You guys should be fine there. If someone is just blowing the Novice field away he will be asked to move up to the higher class.
