He was referring to the fact that when you stab the breaks, the center diff will only apply stopping force to the wheels that are not griping the surface at that point in time (well which ever wheels have less pressure on the racing surface) which will defy the point of having breaks. lol So with a spool, it will allow you to break with all for wheels which will be a good thing for when you need to stop the at high speeds.

Also maybe you could move the motor towards the center of the car (front to back) to help make the car more balanced.

I was hoping to get the servo in a CAD rendering last night, but after I put the little "spikes" on the tire ( about 1000 per tire) it makes my comp run really slow, so it took a while.

Also,all 4 wheels/tires are the same size.

Wouldnt a spool be back for handling?

If you mean bad, then no it won't hurt the handling that much (unless you are use to driving 8th scales). Basically it allows the same amount of power to be delivered to the front and rear wheels (similar to a 10th scale 4wd buggy). So most likely it will feel about the same as a 10th scale buggy to an extent.

Here is a new picture with the new tires. If you notice, all of the circles arent very smooth and have like straight edges, this is from the 1300 nubs on each tire making my computer run slower than a snail. In a final rendering, all the settings will be put back up to the maximum quality.

I wish. Been pretty busy lately, I was hoping to have more done on this rendering.

I see you are on the RCM board also. I didnt know you were from chicago.

Anyway... Looks like a sweet project. I always like to see crative stuff.

This is my 1/8 bushless. Not as elaborate as your plans. But it works well.

Well, looks like I have given in, and decided to extend the chassis to 16". I am also considering widening the chassis to a width that would allow me to slip the center diff with a Kyosho 46t nylon spur gear between the batteries towards the center of the chassis a little more. I could achieve a better balanced buggy by doing this.

Here are some pictures of my new chassis concept. These pictures show the chassis widened to fit the center diff in between lipoly's. I am also messing around with the idea of putting the motor off to the right of the diff to drop the COG.

No, steel spurs dont like BL motor with steel pinions, usually need to get hardened pinions, and those still wear out fast, if you ask anyone that has converted a buggy, they most likely will tell you right away to get a plastic spur.
