Truggies -
06-08-2005, 01:02 PM
First off let me say that I think the concept of the Truggy is a great one and am considering buying one. However, since Truggies have far more in common with buggies and are turning times as good or better than buggies they need to run with the buggies when there is not enough of them for their own race.
They should not be lumped in with the Standard MT's who don't stand a chance. It's the equivilent of Pro Strockers vs. Funny Cars. They look a lot alike but we all know who has the decided advantage. It kills the fun going into a race knowing I don't stand a chance against an experienced buggy racer racing a Truggy. Some might say, "well, these are just club races and are for fun". Well, guess what? Most of us only race in club races so these need to be the training ground for the big ROAR races. That's why I travel 2.5-3 hours every weekend to race. Please try to remember that a democracy protects the rights of the minority as well as the majority. I'm very competitive and have a HUGE amount of money invested in my Revo. Even the best PRO Revo drivers are only turning in times that would put them in the middle of the pack at the Pro Series races inthe Unlimited MT class. If they can't win what hopes do I have?!!!! I don't want to penalize the Truggy guys, I just want a fair playing field and the hope of winning with the only reason for my losing being my driving ability. |

If there were more of each class they would run them seperate...just subtract the truggy and thats your position. They could run the trucks togeather and then give seperate scoring sheets...might be good way to handle it.

ATA, Thanks for helping to make my point! We all realize that if there were more Truggies they would be in their own class, My point is, why should us MT racers be penalized?
Let them race with the buggy guys since they have far more in common with you guys? Actually, I think, in time, they'll beat you buggy guys. They have the same suspension, a wider stance, more HP, bigger tires=more traction, and a center diff. What are you guys afraid of? |

I agree on the savage racing against revo's issue. The savage simply wasn't made with racing in mind. High center of gravity, crappy steering, high weight, and the list goes on and on. I spent a ton of cash trying to get a good setup, and my new revo in stock trim will easily outrun my old savage.

Seperate time sheets was a good idea no? Actually I see your point, and I my self have complained about it too since ive raced my revo more than any other class and usually with truggies. There have been a couple times when i got second in the a main with a truggy in first. However when things got slow at leisure though i was happy to see them just so we could run a MT class period. |

I agree with Tex....its mostly the driver
When it comes to Revo's racing against truggies, each one has their week points as well as their strong points. I know for a fact that Ryan's Revo is just as fast, if not faster then my LSP on the straight. He can also hold much better lines when going around turns. Most Revo's Ive seen, go where your want them too and actually hold the turns much better, at least much better then my understeering LSP, I have to use the rear brakes to get the rear to come around most of the time, just so I can turn tighter. I raced out at AJ's yesterday, and Kevin's LST was only 10 sec behind my TQ spot. That track was sooo slippery loose dirt/sand mix and wide open throttle running with only 4 small jumps on the whole track....it was like running on a baseball diamond with speed bumps for jumps.....Truggies had no advantage their but yet I still heard people complain. Anyway.....Ive heard these kind of complaints alot lately from non truggie owners when they loose, but I still think its mostly the driver Give me 15min with a powerfull, hooked up Revo... and I bet I could have still won the races Ive won ![]() O.S. Mich, the only reason I blow you away is because you crashed or got caught up in traffic more times then I did......
So.....I'll say it again, its mostly the driver If my truck wasnt so damn hard to get parts for.....I'd swap trucks with you guys for a race, so we could see who wins then Gabe, I'd like to think Im pretty good, but by no means do I think Im excellent ![]() |
