Road trip to THE ROCK PILE in Madison!!! -
05-26-2005, 10:46 AM
I have tried to post on the Showmerc forum but it just doesn't work.
Anyhow, understand that a lot of people (6-8) are going up to www.marcca.com 6/5. I'm going with Lance and David 5/29 also, if anyone is interested. My new TZ is pretty much broken in and I should have my new Vantage carbon fiber Revo chassis this weekend-definately by 6/5! Let's get a big crew and show them how WE race!! |

I agree!! I'm so incredibly stoked!! That step up, billy goat, mountain jump is the coolest thing I've ever seen! and check out that pass over jump! Wow! I guess California doesn't have ALL the cool tracks after all.

That track does look awsome and I hope I can make it. I guess Ill have to change my setup a little for the outdoors. I think the 70w-60w might be too much if there are any bumps on that thing. And shifting in 10 ft. might be too soon, time for the wide ratio gears. And the motor...Im sure the TM will do just fine :p

Yeah, I might have to put my stock ratio gearing inside my Revo tranny for that long straight. I'll test first. I'm running 16t/38t spur with a new TZ and since the dirt is a bit looser than at LH I might need to go down to a 36t spur. That would help control wheel spin and give me the top end for the straight.
I've got a set of Panther Meat Grinders/Cut Bowties/Response on Hurricanes so I should be able to find a tire combo. I talked to a racer/worker at Trackside Hobbies in Milwaukee who races there and he said they run Meat Grinders and Bowties and close ratio. |

Very nice track. Very technical too (at least for me). Buggy wasn't ready, so I took out my new revo to race for the first time. When I got there, I only had 10 tanks run through my revo. First heat I stalled out and couldn't get it restarted . Kevin help me discover than my mess was too tight and the slipper was a little too loose. Fixed that up and did a little tuning. The truck was running much nicer. Heat 2 comes up and I stall after a bad crash. Started back up right away and continues. 1 lap later crashed it again and it stalled again. This time I also noticed that the motor was a tad too hot (rich told me as he handed me the truck). I temped it at 290 and this is after it had already been shut down for at least a minute. Took while to get the truck back since it was all the way on the other side of the track when I crashed. I richened it up a tad on the high side and head out for heat 3. I got an early start to warm up (monster trucks were the first heat) which was apparantly too early since I ran out of gas with 2 minutes left in the heat. At least it didn't stall!! I start dead last in the main (A-main - 10 minute race) and ended up working my way up and finished 6th.
Not bad for a first time out with the revo. I've still got to learn to drive it, and I need better dirt tires for sure. Sorry for the long post, but this is the first time in a VERY long time that I actually finished a main with the motor running the whole time and no parts breakage. I'm a tad excited ."If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. That's why they call it NON F@#*$&%G STICK!!!" - Im watching YOU!- roc |

I had a great time. So much better being out in the sun breathen fresh air, BBQ, Beer, Friends. I wasnt to happy running my buggy inside Leisure cause of the tight layout. Outdoors, now my revo seemed slow. Not that it was, just the buggies boogy.
This was my first time outdoors. Buggies 5th Cmain out of D. 1 truck race (Eric won with LSP), I think I finshed somewhere between Tune and Tex. And Tune. As far as not breaking, get used to it. I sometimes go months without breakdowns. I think you and your revo are going to get along just fine... Later Kev |

That's a typo
. It should be mesh. As in gear mesh between the spur gear and clutch bell."If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. That's why they call it NON F@#*$&%G STICK!!!" - Im watching YOU!- roc |
