OK- time to either fix it or get rid of it.... - 10-06-2006, 10:00 AM

...and I would prefer fixing it if I only had the time. I started a new job as a National Account Manager for a Systems and Network Integration company and find myself traveling alot. I don't have the time to spend in the garage on the weekends.
What I have-
Savage 25 with some type of gearing problems. It locks up when rolled backwards. I am not sure what else is wrong with it as it has sat idle for about 9 months.
I am looking for a capable shop/person to fix it up, tune it and get it going. Basically make it new again.
Any suggestions?

I think you have taken the right approach..seeking help form the Community.
A shop would prolly bleed you dry...
A knowledgable Savage guy might be able to help you out for a lot less.

I am less concerned about price as I am getting the job done right and by somebody I can trust.

I would still pay someone here, who is willing to help. They will be fair, and don't have the overhead of a shop. A shop might get it done quicker, because they have parts on hand and they don't have a "day job" to do first, like a hobbyist.

I'm sure anyone who is williing and able will chime in later today.

I've never worked on a savage and I don't want to learn on yours haha

I would normally take it under my wing but I have no time

there is a oneway bearing inside the transmission . it allows the truck to free wheel when rolled backwards. It sounds like this "might" be whats wrong... If you do not feel confident tearing into your transmission Hobby town in St.Charles on North ave. (rt64) Has a pretty Capable fix it guy that can fix it up and tune it up for you...

Dont mess wit my sig Line tune!
