knowing laptimes in practice? - 08-29-2006, 11:30 PM

is there anyway to know your laptimes while your practicing? If you buy your own transponder does the track thing read it? can you get your own thing to read transponders for a decent price? Im not sure if these are stupid questions or not but im just wondering.

thanks,
Joe

I don't think so.

If you have a radio with a lap timer/counting feature, you can use that. Everytime you cross the finish line, you press the button on the transmiter. I can't say how well it works, I never used it.

You have to change the grip function button from 3rd channel to lap timer.

Another option, if you have Spektrum, is to get the telemetry module. There is a pick-up that you place near the track, and when your car/truck passes by it, it will send the lap times to the transmitter.

The track DOES support Personal transponders, but they are a little pricey (about $90). As far as I remember, they do not run the timing equipment during practice times though.

They don't have the computer stuff running during practice. You need to use a lap timer function on your radio if you have it, or a friend and a stopwatch.

i have a 3pm i think. I thought maybe there was something that could read transponders and hook up to a labtop to display the information.

most of the carpet tracks indoors will leave their computer and AMB system on during practice. Some of them using RCScoring pro then pipe the audio to the track and you can hear your laptimes. Some of them just leave the video on the screen and you can see your laptimes.

Heck,if people are serious about it. Simple way I think would be to get a cheap, old computer with no other programs on there but for the lap system. They can find their times on there and print them out. But I would only bother with that if a decent amount of people were going to use it.
I know I would like to keep track of my practice times. And race times too.
I did see the printouts when I was there a few sundays ago,but I dont understand the times and how that is all laid out so if I were able to get just my times and maybe the fastest times for that lap. I would go for that.
