Savage Brakes... grrrrrrr!!!!!

I am having an issue with the brakes on my Savage. I have tried several dual brake kits, I have tried the stock brakes and I have even tried a modified version of the stock brake kit that I came up with... all with no luck.

I thought my problem was that I was working on the brakes and not allowing time for the lock-tight to setup before using the truck again because I would constantly have the screws come loose on me. Well I redid the brakes on my truck about a month ago and it has been sitting ever since. I took the truck out today because it was so nice outside I wanted to get some bashing in before it got cold again. Sure as sh** the brakes only last me about 20 minutes before they were totally gone, I mean no brakes what so ever on my truck. This is becoming a huge pain in the ass with this truck.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a good brake setup?

I need something that works and is reliable.

The screw that hold the pads are coming loosing on you?

I've been using the HPI dual disk setup since last june with no issues other than a brake pad change last month.

the brake hold down screws?those screw into the lower trans, there is no metal there,all plastic ,sounds like you striped out the screw mounts so the screws come out when pressure is added,are you running a reverse mod?if you are, there is a higher chance of strippeing out those screw holes then if you ran straight forward ,there is more pressure in reverse since those screws come in the reverse direction,how long of a screw are you using?in you can try a screw that is bit longer maybe you can get some threadeding that way other wise sounds like you need a trans housing,

I am using the original steering servo as the throttle/brake servo.

Yes, the screws that go through the pads and hold them in place.

I know there is no metal in there, I have never over tightened them and if I take the trans out and put a screw in the hole, it stay in, even when I try to pull them out. If the holes were stripped the screws would slide right out when I put pressure on them.

While the plastic may not be stripped, it might be worn down enough that when you apply the brakes, things like vibration can make those screws slowly start backing out on their own.

Too hard on the brakes? No way. I've racing quite a few times this past winter season. Constantly on the brakes/gas. I've never had a problem with the screws backing out to the point I lose my brakes.

Might be worth a shot to use new screws and a tranny case.

To determine if you have a stripped screw hole you can take one of the screws and put a dab of CA on the very tip right before you screw it in. Let the CA set up. Drive the truck if the other screw backed out and the one with the CA on it didn't you know you need that trans case. And this can serve as a temp fix until you get a trans case.

CA is another name for super glue. All hobby shops carry it. Various types of strength and whatnot.
