Starter boxes - 11-14-2004, 08:06 PM

I was looking into getting a starter box for my gs SUT and my violator. The catch is i no nothing about starter boxes and dont wanna buy a turd so i was curious if you guys had a favorite model, or at least the names of the turds that are out there . I was at the Aurora hobbytown ( it was half time of the bears game and i was at fox and hound, i was also alittle drunk so i figured i could put up with the owners) They had a bunch there and she was pushing DISCOUN DISCOUNT!!! With everything i touched so i figured id ask you guys what ya think. By the way they have a pretty large amount of GS storm SUT parts there.

CHeck out the Ofna Rtr, It comes with 2 550 motors and a 12 v gel cell battery and the power panel with glow ignitor. You can get it for around 100.00 Then all you need is a 12V wall charger. I dont know the part number but it is black with purple rubber feet on top, I think they say its for 1/10 and 1/8 works well on Storm SUt and Ofna Buggies

I have that starter box and love it. I think the box says for 1/10 scale but it works on my buggy fine. The power panel did break on mine, it tries to push 12v thru the glow plug for some reason. A replacement panel was only $20 or so. Other than that, I like it. The gel battery seems to last forever, last time I charged it was March!!

well I got an old ofna blue 1/8 scale box. its got a single huge motor but I modded mine to run off the many DeWalt 14v and 12v batteries I have around. I have no problems with it at all. I think all of Ofna's boxes are great weather its using dual 550 motors or the single huge motor.

I have the black ofna starter box with twin 550's and gel cell. I need a new gel cell but then again I am just saving it for when I get my non p/s motor.
