You would have to make sure the LiPo is only 6v (you coul probably use a slightly higher one if the Rx has a regulator to keep the voltage to 6v), or you could burn out the Servos. One BIG problem with LiPo's, is if you let them drop down too low in voltage, they can and have been known to burn up (as in catch fire). You would also need a different charger.
With all that in mind, for the cost of a LiPo Battery, a LiPo charger, a voltage regulator, and a way to monitor voltage regularly, you could easily get 4-5 NiMh batteries at 1200-1400 Mah, and have some money left over to pay for your practice time, race fees and lunch... |

Thanks
This is something I was looking into. I have plenty of hump packs and 2 chargers. I was not sure about it and if it would be worth doing this. From the sounds of it---Nope, I will stick with what I have. If your not breakin parts your not going fast enough-Biodragen NTC3 RTR assoc .15 NTC3 OS .18 Losi 8T, JR8611a ST servo, Futaba 9350 Th\Brk Servo, RB-C6BB Motor and Novarossi 528XR. |

LiPo's are very sensitive to overcharging (the explode and burn if overcharged) and discharging (over discharging the battery once kills it and it will never take a charge again). You will need a specific charger to charge a LIPo pack as well.
Each LiPo cell is 3.7volts. 2 LoPo cells in series makes 7.4 volts. 3s (3 series cells) makes 11.1 volts.. ect. yeah you can do a 2s lipo 7.4v and not charge the RX pack for a long time but at the price you would spend just to get a single Lipo pack and a battery you could buy yourself 5 Nimh RX packs and a quick charger! 1:1.. 01 Z28 Camaro A4 Sure.. its stock. 1:8's.. K3, Inferno GT, and a straight line beater car 1:18.. RC18t Mamba and 3s lipo |

LiPo's are a bit tricky.. I have fried more then a few.. and they are not cheap =(
I just posted on my front news page about their new LiMn technology. They are supposed to be much much easier to work with then LiPo with all the good power/weight benefits. I haven't seen them in action yet, but a few pro guys have said they are amazing in the 10th scale electrics! Maybe these will also make good conversions for receiver/transmitter packs.... Brian |
