question on os cv-r - 01-09-2006, 08:02 AM

hey all Im breakng in the mentioned engine but was having some issues. I got it fired up pretty quick, but as soon as I go more then half throttle the engine cuts out. my carb is sliding smooth and no kinks in the fuel line, air filter is brand new and oiled. Does it sound like the mixture needle not set correctly? the engine idles as long as i dont go over 1/2 throttle. The idle dosent sound strong and throty but it is smooth and consistant. my kid was sleeping yesterday and I couldnt go into my closet to get the os manuel. just looking for a heads up thanks! also the maxx the engine is in dosent even try and move when I have the engine running. the spur is spinning and the small out put shaft on the other side of the trany is spinning. Is the engine not spining fast enough to engage the two speed? my diffs feel smooth and I can transfer the movement to all four tires depending on which wheel i hold. any ideas?

Motor sounds rich and is bogging out. Lean it out, check temp

Tmax not moving---Everything sounds good but to me it sounds like the clutch is slipping???

If it is being broken in you don't want to go to 1/2 throttle or more... let it idle through some first just giving it little throttle blips to keep it running...

try a new glow plug new engines can go thru them pretty fast, but this might be the problem cuz the plug might not be getting hot enough to ignite the extra fuel that is being put into the motor, that happened recently to me and i replaced the plug and everything was fine.

you don't want to lean the motor or blip the throttle during break in. If it stays running rich that's where you want it. To get the temps up wrap the cooling head in aluminum foil and cover that with a baby sock. This was it has tons of lube from being rich yet it's in the temp range you want for break (over 200F)

When you say "the engine cuts out" does that mean it completely dies or it lean bogs and stays running?

Sounds like it's too rich on the high end.

Here's a link for Het Cycling. Seems to be the prefered Break-in for some people.

Tex got it... By blip I meant barely moving the trigger at all. And that is only if necessary to keep it running.

Also, he said that the spur is spinning, so that eliminates the shoes slipping. It might be the slipper clutch or it might be that the engine just isn't getting to high enough rpm's to get the truck moving....
