Supercharger??? - 09-27-2004, 09:50 PM

Has anybody ever had any experience with a supercharger
for a nitro vehicle? Does it really work?

it works but not well and it doens't do enough to justify the weight gain and parasitic loss from turning the blower itself. It would be easier and cheaper to but a high HP engine before putting one of those blowers on a nitro engine. You can't boost one of these engines a ton because the intake and exhaust is open at the same time and you end up just pushing the a/f mixture right out fo the engine.

I just think it would be cool to get the R/C NOS kit, for the 2.5. Since I am going to be changing the engine anyway, it would be cool to see how effective it is, without worrying about the effects to the engine.

I have seen the vids with the nitro boost on the t-maxx. That thing kicks up the RPM's fast and the truck wants to jump out of its tires. They say that it you inject too much NO2 then it will just fry your plug and not much else. Only thing is to worry about too high RPM's and blow something out in your motor. But if your changing it anyway that would be cool to see a T on NO2.

but by adding Nitrous the way they are doing it, just by simply dumping it into the carb, all its doing is adding more Oxygen to the combustion but there is no added fuel. So basically all that nitrous kit is doing is leaning out the engine. I guess in a awy it does work... but running all lean like that can't be healthy for the engine.

Tha's why I'd only do it on the 2.5 before I swap it for the Sirio... I wouldn't do it to a good engine....
