spektrum question -
10-12-2005, 09:39 PM
i am very much into racing and definately want to go spektrum. i'm between the m11 or the dsx3 spektrum radio. right now i have a mx3 and am pretty happy with the different settings it has. will i ever use the settings on the m11 or is it really over kill. i know there is alot of stuff on there. the dsx3 radio is nice but some people say it doesn't really have many settings on it at all. it's just a basic JR radio layout. any opinions would be appreciated.

the only setting i've used were end point adjustments.

While were on the subject...
I'm looking into the M8/spektrum setup as many seem to use it/like it on this board. If buying used, what kind of pricing should I be looking for to consider it a good deal? I was on ebay and I didn't spot any ready to go packages, so it's looking like I need to buy the radio and spektrum stuff separate. "If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. I got my M8 for I think $180 with 2 Rx's and 2 sets of crystals but that was a while ago about 2 months before the spektrizzle was released.
I say spend the money and get the M8 or M11. Its top notch stuff and soo simple to use after you get used to it. the adjustments are really great and the thing can do everything but make toast for you! basically if you get an M8 or 11 you will never need to buy another radio because they are just that good. I'm wondering where is all the Nomadio talk? before its release it was supposed to rule the world and nobody would want a spektrum after the nomadio was released but that for sure isn't happening. 1:1.. 01 Z28 Camaro A4 Sure.. its stock. 1:8's.. Qwk01ta, The DSX3 Spektrum is a remodled older style JR XR3. There are a few nice features, but it does only have 3 model memory. I'm not sure how many cars/trucks you plan on running the Spektrum with, but if over 3, you'd be much better off with the M8 or M11. I really do not know why Horizon didn't base the Spektrum off a newer model radio, with more model memory, more comfortable styling, more features...

i was in the same boat, needed a new radio, wanted spectrum but didnt have the budget to up 250 at the time. bought a used m8 for 100, and bought the novak stuff for it for 45.
so i got 145 in a supa nice radio, now i just sold the novak stuff for 50 and bought a spek for 125 new. 225 for m8 w spek vs DX3 ( which i did really want as i was using a XS3 at the time) im so glad i got the M8. one ther factor is if somthing goes bad with the M8 spec you can pop the module out and use somthing else while it gets fixed. |

The M8 spektrum combo is a nice set up. but take the time to learn all the radio features , and use them to your advantage.
If you dont want to use all the features and you just want throttle and steering then get the spektrum radio. |

I have watched the M8 on Ebay usually go from $100-125 for the Tx only...backlit versions go for a little more. Spektrum Rx are hard to find for much less than $70 ea. new...although I did get one for $65 |
