Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - satoch - 07-06-2005

No joking, my buddy just dropped off his vintage 1986 Tamiya Hornet and Futaba Magnum JR for me to try to bring back to life. Actually, I saw in a recent RC Driver issue that Tamiya just reissued this thing!!!

It needs the shocks rebuilt and some wheel bearings. I'll put a little better motor in it and a fresh battery. I need a cheap ESC. Anyone got one for sale? Anyone have any old parts? Ideas?

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - slim - 07-06-2005

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - bigjs - 07-06-2005

That was my first rc car too. Not sure where it is, probably packed away in a box somewhere.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - ATA_Thrash - 07-07-2005

my first was a tamiya hotshot.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Tex - 07-07-2005

My first hobby class RC was a Kyosho Raider.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Notochord - 07-07-2005

is it the old hornet or the super hornet. i had the super hornet that thing was really fun

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - satoch - 07-07-2005

It's a "The Hornet" It's my buddies but he wants me to get it up and running for him. He wants to give it to his 4 year old nephew. I think the kid is too young. Maybe I can get my buddy hooked on R/C again!! That's my master plan......

Slim, I'll ask him about the ESC. He'll probably take it.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Astro - 07-11-2005

I have a new ESC out of a Stampeed. LMK if ya want it. I think 20.00 would be a good price.....

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - satoch - 08-22-2005

Hey, why hasn't anyone PM'd me with details on this deal? I need this ESC by this weekend. Who has one?

PM me with a phone number so I can give you my UPS number, address, and PayPal info.

Thanks.

Hornet , Hotshot, Raider, that sure brings back some memories. My first R/C was a Tamiya Boomerang followed by a Kyosho Double dare...Those were the days.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Notochord - 08-22-2005

why dont you put new stuff in it. thats what i am going to do to my super hornet once i get brushless system or im gonna put the brushless in the hornet and it will fly.

Anytime Baby lol

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - bigdangerous - 08-23-2005

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Notochord - 08-23-2005

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Eracer76 - 08-23-2005

Wow, that does bring back some memories......
My first was the Tamiya Frog, but my two buddies had the Raider and a Grasshopper Big Grin

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Tex - 08-23-2005

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - satoch - 08-23-2005

Ok guys, glad that I could take you down memory lane. Now, who has a cheap used ESC for sale to put in this thing?

Actually my first RC truck was a Kyosho Big Boss.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Notochord - 08-24-2005

if its for a four year old why dont you just buy a cheap esc

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - satoch - 08-29-2005

I am trying to buy a cheap esc but no one who says they have one is giving me details to finish the deal.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Tex - 08-29-2005

the Duratrax streak is only $35 at Al's ...it can go to 8 cells and a 10T motor. But it has no reverse. It's more or less a budget race ESC.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - satoch - 08-29-2005

Gabe, thanks for the info but I'm thinking of something used that handles 6-7 cells w/reverse for $25-30 shipped.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Tex - 08-29-2005

Good luck finding it! I wish I had one to sell ya but I got rid of all my Electric stuff a couple years ago.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - mikeh - 09-09-2005

I had a Hornet. It was my second R/c. My first was a Tamiya Super Champ. All aluminum and fiberglass! A tank! I sold my Hornet for a Kyosho Ultima which I still have.

Oh, sorry, i dont have a spare esc, but the hornet was made to use a manual speed control anyway. Just jump the motor to the battery and let her rip LOL!

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - TowShen - 09-09-2005

my first was that Tamiya bush Devil. and i still have it!

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - chicagokenji - 09-10-2005

The dynamite Tazer is good to a 19 turn motor is a forward and reverse and is about 30 bucks brand new. I highly doubt a 4 year old will be using anything but a stock motor for years.

Also you might think about making 4 cell packs for the kid so he can learn much faster.

Just got a Tamiya Hornet! LOL! - Astro - 09-10-2005
