i doubt it,

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 10-05-2006

Mike mentioned this elsewhere, so I thought I'd drop it here, too.

Some ST1 guys have been turning the front upper arms around so the rearward flex is eliminated.

While I have not looked at it too closely, I do see that the upper pivot ball location will be changed realtive to the hingepin, so your caster angles could be impacted.

Mike, any directions on the mod? How does the suspension geometry work out?

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

nothing happens to the geometry the PB end end up in the exact same spot just take the right side arm flip it so the big flat part is facing the rear and put it back on. do it on both sides etc. the pro comes with the good solid arms but this is a quick fix that elimnates all the flex

Mike, I'm gonna argue here with you. I just did this and measured it with a drafting protractor, and the flipped arm position takes almost 10 degrees of castor out of the knuckles.

Believe it.

Hard to agrue wit the facts mike

looks like you get better streering flipped... Lower caster= more turn in... Correct?

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

so then put a 10mm clip in front of the arm when u flip it lol

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 10-05-2006

(slaps forehead) that's it! Why didn't I think of that???? I'll just grind 10mm off the back of the arm and slide it over.

Thanks, Mike!

I case you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic....

Pretty sure it's a bad thing, not a good thing.

Homer simpson quote, right!?!?

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

dave more caster angle gives u more initial steering and less exit steering. I usually run my arms almost all the way forward, it takes the twitchiness out of the car but gives you a boat load of turning in the middle of the corner and out of it

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Ponch - 10-05-2006

Wait, so if the car is like this

front end / rear end with the / being the caster angle, that will give me more inital turn in, and less steering throughout the turn?

then this;

front end | rear end would make the steering about equal

and this;

front end \ rear end would give almost no initial turn and alot of exit? or do I have it backwards?

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - rocco79 - 10-05-2006

seeeee........ nannna nannnnna naaaaaa lol!

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

no you never EVER want this \ no options will even let you do that, I dont even think the angle is ever straight, but the less caster angle the less entrance steering and teh more exit steering more caster more turn in

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Casketman - 10-05-2006

You can look at the Revo set up to help understand that too. Seems like many guys are running 3 in front,1 behind with that.

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

other way around

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Casketman - 10-05-2006

The revo 3/1 is the other way around?
Or something else?

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

the TTR is 1 in front 3 in rear

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Casketman - 10-05-2006

But you get what I am saying. Same type deal with the Revo. But yes, other way around with the ST-1

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

ya i just confused myself is all lol

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - mikeh - 10-31-2006

So now I need a motor and pipe. I read all 18 pages and am more confused. I am thinking of just getting a XTM 24.7 pro. Its cheap, and I need to go slower, because my driving is so bad.

Also, How do the stock tires do?

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - cemeb4dk - 10-31-2006

the 24 7 is a great economy engine. Plenty of power. Just make sure you get the pro version. Also if you have a starter box get the backplate to make it non pullstart.

As far as tires go, for indoor look at the panther boas, and or the proline holehsots.

I have some tires for sale in the fs/t section Wink

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-31-2006

as track tires the stock tires are great for break in and street running Smile

Official Thunder Tiger ST-1 Thread - Tex - 10-31-2006

uhhhhh, I guess that means get some Boa C's for Leisure indoor.
