![]() ![]() Two of the most important areas to reduce drag....where the wheel hub touches the wood block...notice how all surfaces of the wheel have been polished and waxed...all cars tend to rattle around on the track...so reducing wheel-to-track friction whenever possible makes them run slicker..make sure your wheels are true and the axles are level/square to the block, or the wheels try to walk in/out on the axle (does that make sense?)... ![]() and where the outside face of the wheel rubs under the "nail head".... there are usually little areas of flash from the process that forms the head on the nail...remove it and get it smooth as possible or it acts as a brake on the wheel... ![]() |

Do you guys have to use nails?
When I used to be into that stuff, we bought a straight axle kit and that kept things nice and square. |

![]() Mine. Was alot nicer, but since I got first with it, I decided to celebrate by ducttaping a rocket motor to it and flying it down the street :P All I did was polish up the wheels and put graphite on the axles. I almost got beat by some kid who stained the whole block of wood and put the wheels on it. Good thing we didn't let him borrow the graphite like he was asking to-LOL |
