Ok so i was driving my moms cavalier last night. And i was kind of beating on it, a little. Well i was on North ave., coming home and it died. So im like wtf. So it started and i drove it home, got into the drive way and it dies again. By now im extremely pissed off.so i started it and opened the hood. one of the rods stretched,cause it now has rod knock.=(
This engine only has 84K miles, its sad to lose an engine so early. So this morning i called around for the price of a new engine, the lowest i found was $3,500. Im so stressed out right now its crazy.

its a common problem you siezed the rod bearing i give it less than a 100 miles if you beat on it. but check out jbody.org or quad4forums.com you should be able to find something

I had 220k on my 94 lumina z34 when I got rear ended, my dad bought the car new in 94 for his work car...mom has 190k on her 97 blazer and she is the 2nd owner of it she bought it in 99...my wife has 78k on her 02 explorer no prbs

yeah I'm with Blktransam on this being a fellow GM lover. My mom's 94 Lumina has 250K on it and still runs, looks like crap but it's runs and drives.

I've turned 250k on my last two pontiacs, 150 on the last chevy (I hated it, so it had to go away, but no engine problems)

man Meatwad, if you'd done it a month or so ago, I had one sitting in the yard over at mom's... I've since scrapped it... sorry dude...

I bet either a TRX 3.3 or an OS .18TM would put out damned near the same horsepower as the original

it was a motor design flaw plus him beating on it didnt help but its a common problem. btw my driveway looks like a cavalier car lot so i should know.
