Well said...these points are 100% true
I was told that same thing when I got my first & it is true for most people.

The only thing I would add (or comment on) is there isn't anything wrong with wall flash as long as you thoroughly think it through. There are alot of nice designs that can be incorporated into themes later on, but if at any point you decide to get more work done, it will be important to have made smart choices to begin with. All of my work is completely original & designed by me. This was a choice I made because I didn't want to see someone with my same tattoo. One piece is a cover up that I designed to eliminate my first tattoo (wall flash with no thought behind it )

A good rule of thumb is to really think about what you want...hang onto that idea for about a year & if you still want it just as bad, your set. I'd recommend younger guys to keep any work in areas that can be covered up if need be. Hand & neck tattoos are not always acceptable in professional careers.

I know I will eventually get more than one, but I won't be getting any sleeves or my whole back.

I'm getting my whole back done, haven't really decided yet but I know it will be done!

As for deciding on a tat, My first one on my leg was at 15 years old, it's an original design drawn by me but it doesn't really fit anything else I could do on my calf. The one on my left shoulder(devil) took my 3 more years to decide on that and my right shoulder(the angel) I did last year for 2 reasons price and design. The girl at tomato tattoo nailed what I was looking for and did it at a reasonable price. Now the 2 on my back are not finished since I'm stealing someone elses idea. I'm getting a banner between the 2 across my shoulder and in latin it's going to say "Choose your own destiny". I just have to pick a design for the banner and find someone who speaks latin!!!!

As for addicting all I can say is HELL YES they are! I might be sick in the head but I miss the pain most of the time! It hurts but well worth it!

The pain, is indescribable! When I got my first one after an hour I went into needle shock(for those who don't know what it is, you become physically ill from concentrating on the pain!) After that I have always had someone there to talk to. Like Toughtrax said after about an hour you pretty much become numb to it all, I found that after the outline is done you really don't feel that much. But you will never and have never felt the same kinda pain. BTW my mom says it hurts less than child birth!!!

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

The thing is everyones tolerance for pain is different. I've had girls come into the shop & not even flinch...but I've also had them where they won't sit still, cry & moan through the whole dam thing.

Some say it's terribly painful...myself, I don't think it's all that bad, although some spots are definately worse than others. It all depends on your personal tolerance/ threshold for pain.

The outlining can be very tolerable, were as the coloring & shading can be brutal. It will also depend on your artist & the way his/her machine is set up along with their technique.

I'm sure I post up when the time comes...I have a few flash drawings & sketchbook stuff that I've done recently. I'll post those when I get a chance.

When I was getting my shoulder done she hit this one spot and I almost broke the glass bottle I was holding it hurt so bad! But for me the outline hurts more than the coloring and shading because it's fresh skin.
