Does anyone really use this? I'm thinking about taking it out after the next software update for the site...

No financial troubles, just kinda hard to justify a $90/month server bill on a site that brings in $0 income in return. Figured I'd give ads a shot and see if it brings in anything worthwhile.
A hint toward the future though... no more for sale forum...paid classifies instead. Too much garbage in that forum. A pay to post classified system might be the solution I'm looking for. Worked for ebay... "If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. That's why they call it NON F@#*$&%G STICK!!!" - Im watching YOU!- roc |

. Not sure if it'll work on the search results (like the new post link), but it's worth a shot, lol.The occasional click won't harm anyone, and it will support the site. Just don't go overboard, I've read to many stories of google banning sites because they're cheating the system, lol. I figured the members clicked on a random ad once every couple of days it would be all good. "If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. I was reading on google about the ad system. You get paid per click on the ad, not per sale etc...
How much do you get per click, $.05-$.10? |

I believe it depends on the ad. The more targeted it is, the better. Meaning the ads that link to stuff directly related to what's on the page will most likely pay better than the one's that don't. Any of the ads that say public service anouncement get no money. That's just google plugging something in there until it's bot crawls the page to get info.
I notice on the homepage ad, that amainhobbies is an advertiser. Might prove handy for those about to make order ."If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. That's why they call it NON F@#*$&%G STICK!!!" - Im watching YOU!- roc |

I like having the trader rating, most of the people you deal with on here are trustyworthy, but if you try to do a deal with someone on a different forum then it is nice to send them a link to the trader ratings.

It would be cheap. But for those looking to sell off completely useless, used up stuff with prices for less than $5 and what not probably won't be too happy, but that's life. Members that need to resort to selling things like that should rethink whether they're in the right hobby.
Those with legitimate sales, like tires, rollers, parts lots, engines, etc, will be happier knowing all the crap is gone. For example paying say $1 for selling $50 in tires or $5 for a $200 roller is worth it IMO. Still way cheaper than paying ebay fees and less hassle with shipping since the majority on the boards are all local to chicago. "If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick.
