That JR XS3 pro looks awesome and it's only 10 bucks more than the original. I don't know what your budget is brokefreak, but it's $249.00. With all the people going to berwyn now it seems like it's going to to become necessary at some point.

I agree, the only reason I went with the non-synthesized JR XR3, is the used deal I got on it. It is well worth the extra $ to get a syntesized radio. A bunch of us have the FM radio's now, so there is still a possible mixup with frequencies, with the XS3, or other synth radios, You have all the channels available...

If your gonna upgrade the radio, you might as well get the XS3 or the pro version.
You might be able to get away with noone running , let's say "ch 78" for now, but, with the rate some of us buy/sell R/C's, how long is that gonna last? Not to mention, The Chicago group of R/C'ers is growing soo fast.

Good Luck with your decisions!!!!

if everyone in Chi is going FM, that means you will end up with all the AM channels to yourself

Tex, I thought I saw the range is better with the FM radios as well. I'm debating getting the JR XS3 pro in the future but for now the stocker seems to be OK.

are you the guy with the emaxx and savage? ...I just put that together (blown5.0)(9seclx)

anyway I hear there are alot of benefits to a upper scale FM system...Range is one of them, although Traxxas claimes 1/2 mile with theirs... I never had problems with my stock radio... I just got a deal on a used FM so I jumped on it otherwise I would still have the TQ3

Thats exactly what I was hoping for :p
I just spent the most of the money that I was thinking about going FM with, so it may just wait a while longer. i have no problems with the stock radio as of yet so I'm gonna wait..............thats of course unless I get a deal on one before that time.

I have yet to get FM but will as soon as I have enough cars to make it usefull. The one thing thats great is that with the right controller, you can use 1 controller for all your cars. You need to buy a reciever for each car thats compatible and a crystal but you carry alot less controllers around. Now you can buy the recievers that require no crystal but they do tend to get expensive.

Yeah, but also consider, a reciever will run aproximately $50 (depending on the brand) + the price of crystals ($10-$25) + having extra frequencies, just in case. It is aproximately $70 and up to add a car to your radio... With a synthesized radio, it is aproximately $70 for a new reciever, and you have all available frequencies... I plan on upgrading to synth sometime soon.

I think AM actually has a longer range than FM, but AM is a LOT more prone to interference. Can anyone confirm this?
