There's no real easy way to learn as in a tutorial yet. Basically, I just find a button I don't get how to use and google it.

OK, I've been messing with it for about 3 hours and I just want to get some pics of my trucks with out the back ground. I tried using the pen the magic tool, the layer and extract thing, but they all are still leaving a little bit of the background on there, is there an easier way that I can't find or something that I am missing?

First the lower resolution of the image the more difficult it becomes to remove the background, you'll find the edges of the object you are trying to cut will have jaggies. I use almost exclusively the polygon lasso tool to drop out objects. One thing you can do is cut out your object then save your selection as an alpha channel, this way you'll always have that selection saved. Go to window-->Channels and select channels. The channels palette will pop up. At the bottom of the channels palette you will see four buttons: one is a round circle, the next one is a gray box with a white circle in it, this is the one you want to click after you have made your selection and will save it as an alpha channel. Ok, once you have done this now you can de-select your selection and command click or select the alpha channel and click on the round circle at the bottom of the channels palette and that will make your selection pop up again in your image. Ok, with your selection enabled now go to Select-->Inverse, this will flip your selection so that your background is selected. Now go to Layers-->New Fill layer--> Solid color. Pick a color, hit ok and it will fill your background with a solid color. Now your not done yet. Now in your layers palette make sure you mask layer is selected, your mask layer will be right next your fill color. With it selected you can go to Filters-->Blur-->Guassian Blur and blur 1-2 points. This will smooth the mask. Sometimes you may have to tweak the mask but this can be complicated. If you still have problems maybe I can put together a quick quicktime movie to illustrate what I mean.
