A true fan will go watch there team play live, no matter how the team is doing that year. A buddy here at work goes to at least 5-10 soxs games a year, and that was before they won the world series. THAT is a fan. Go support YOUR team! Aint nothing like going to a game, hanging out with other fans, drinking beer, eating hotdogs, etc. Those who've never been to a baseball game should get of the couch and go! . If you have no desire to go, then you're not a baseball fan and should just leave this threads for the "real" fans. </rant> "If you cook scallops in a non-stick pan, then they won't stick. That's why they call it NON F@#*$&%G STICK!!!" - Im watching YOU!- roc |

Listen, this is easy. The Sox right now are the team to beat in the WHOLE league AL or NL. Why? Great managing, awesome front office staff, excellent vision in trading and minor league hopefuls. No BS when it comes to ticket prices, nothing is inflated and the bandwagoneers get their *sses kicked out of every bar they frequent. The Cubs franchise needs to look at the big picture, they need a series, but they have to get the Front office staff and the managing where it needs to be. Fire Dusty, first off, it aint working. Second build a good team of young players with talent over time like the Sox have. Then suddenly it will come together. This patch work of vets and young nobodies never works, never has. Thirdly for christ sakes. SMALL BALL WINS GAMES!
Sincerely, A Disgruntled life long Rabid Cubs Fan, who loves to watch great baseball and believes those guys across town got it right and we didn't. |

how can u say that there are no "young hopefuls" there entire team has been always built on young talent. And to say that the front office is lagging, look at some of the deals and steals that have been made in recent years, 3003 lofton and ramirez, burnitz lastyear, and what about sean marshall or angel gusman this year

Come on, Lofton? He played one season, he was a bat, then dumped for Paterson, younger cheaper. Now where is Paterson? Guzman unproven in big league play, will his shoulder become an issue? We will see. Ramirez, yes excellent pick, 8th year in the league, hardly young. Sean Marshall, another young unproven pick that fortunately has two wins under his belt and 10 ERs in two games, well lets hope it doesnt get higher. Cedeno, I like him, nice average and is putting in the RBI's. Burnitz, now gone to pit in his 13th year, lofton at the time with the cubs was in his 12th year.
My point is acquistion doesnt do any good if you cant get the team to gel together. The cubs keep searching instead of putting them together and just letting them play. |

Whatever, I've always watched the sox and we have gone to a few every year, but i just can't see spending so much on season tickets for the cubs or sox, but I do consider my self a "true" sox fan. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for Ford, our tools would rust. |

It would be nice if everyone would lose.

I agree with the point that a TRUE fan will go to the games to support their team, win OR lose. But in the same sense, I see the point that Traxxas Junkee was making. Why would the Cubs owners dish out more money for better coaching, or players, when the fans are ok with having a team that can't hold it together all season?
But answer this question.... Just because I don't (can't) go to a Sox game, does that make me any less of a "True Fan" than someone who does go to the games? Just because I don't have the extra $50+ (Ticket price, parking, a couple beers, etc.) to go to a game doesn't mean I don't support them. Being a TRUE fan means you are a fan of that team, win or lose, which I have always been a Sox fan. |
