Speaking of finals. How come high schools are dumb and have the finals right after winter break? Do they think kids will actually study?

You would have thought they would have done it like colleges. Right before break.

Naperville just voted to change our schools schedules so finals are done before winter break, but it meant starting the break later than previously done. Now the kids will be in school until around the 23rd....

remember too that colleges don't have all these days off becuase of parent teacher meetings and other stuff that takes days away from school. It seems like out schools RARELY have a week without a day off for some reason.

Pretty sad seeing that special on 20/20 I think it was about American kids being so stupid.
Kids from Europe taking our tests and commenting on how easy they are compared to our testing.

I didnt catch the entire episode but is Naperville still ranked highest in the nation for education ?

I don't know about the finals and reasons, but in most of my classes, all we did last week was study and refresh, then a final studying on tuesday, and then the finals on wed, thurs, and today.
We have monday off, we haven't been at school on a monday for like 6 weeks. LOL

Rich, i doubt it...but maybe? I thought the north shore schools had the highest test scores in the state...Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest,, up there... dunno. My kids are pretty smart though!

Yeah, I know Highland Park has very good scores, although George Bush doesn't think so with the No child left behind act, since HP has a large special ed account, it makes HP as a whole look like we have lower grades and that pt us on a watch list.

Hrmmm Maybe your right Dave. A couple of years ago, I know Naperville was rated numero uno. Maybe things have changed.
