Saw that on sports center or the news this morning. Good to hear that the kid is ok and only needed a few stitches.

30 stitches. He got a team autographed football too. Tough kid! Kids are very resiliant. You gotta give the player credit for his effort to protect the boy as he fell. The dad should have been keeping a better eye on his kids though, but so does everybody.

Foe example, kids do the darnest things. While we were visiting the in-laws recently, we all went to the NC train museum. One of the exhibits allows you to walk through an old Pullman mail car. As we are leaving the exhibit, my niece (3yr old) climbs through a net of chains to crawl out of a blocked side door and drop through a 12 inch wide gap and fall down to the tracks below. Not a mark on her. Its like she friggin vanished in less than 2 seconds. Nobody panicked, but the customary ER visit ensued.
And we were all right there when it happened, and nobody saw her doing it until she fell. It was that fast. So I empathise with the poor dad. But a museum and the sidelines of a football field are a bit different I suppose.

The kid should NOT have been on the field. Kids don't know well enough to watchout for the players. When the player is in the game going for the ball he isn't looking for a bystander on the sideline. He's looking at the ball and watching for people to intercept.

I don't blame the player at all. The kid shouldn't have even bid allowed onto the sidelines. Its not the kids fault either. And I don't even really blame the parent(s), the officials shouldn't have let the kids in.

When we did Monster Jam in Omaha, NE no one under the age of 13 was allowed into the pit area or on the show floor. And if under 18 a waiver was needed to be on the the floor.

The HS games I go to, there are always kids and dads on the sidelines....ex-players, friends of the coaches, etc...I am amazed that they don't get clobbered EVERY game.....

Not around here for now. There is one this weekend in Lincoln NE, but i can't drive out this weekend for it.

I'm planning on Summer Jam, September fest, and the January Monster Jam as my 3 events of the year that i'll drive down for. Gerenally its about 1600 - 1700 miles of driving. There and back 700mi each, so 1400 miles, but then about 200 miles of driving to and from the even center. So 1600 miles for a weekend.

For me thats about 56 gallons at $3/gallon = $170 in gas for the weekend.
