Got Another Bike... - 11-28-2005, 11:28 PM

Well since I got accepted to U of I and would be needing a bike for college (Mine are worth waaaayy to much to leave sit outside the whole school year) I figured it was time to look for another one. I picked this up from a guy I ride with locally through Team Sally. K2 Flyin' Monkey with full LX components and a manitou splice super fork. Nice Race Face cranks too... not bad for $300.

So lets see...

3 rideable mountain bikes
1 road bike
2 rideable bmx bikes
1 more mountain bike (90% my parts but my sister rides it)
1 more mountain bike frame
2 more BMX frames

TONS of extra parts. I think I have the potential to have 9 rideable bikes at any time out of 10. I think I am ill...

Still too nice a bike to lock up on a college campus. Locked bikes are targets. You want a bike that you can leave unlocked and no one will touch.

When I was at SIU they had "community" bikes that were basic, functional bikes that a group (I forget who) fixed up. They sprayed them dayglo orange and pink and just put them out in bike racks around campus. If you saw one you could just take it and ride it. The only rule was you couldn't lock them. This plan cut down on the number of bike "thefts" by people just looking for a ride. Worked great.

Thats a nice hardtail. Within the last 2 months, I've had a growing interest in bikes. I like to see what people are buying these days.

I was lookin at ol' school bmx frames on ebay awhile back. So I decided to see if anybody was selling Old '80's' style PK RIPPERs(square downtube). This was the most coveted of bikes when I was a kid. Low and behold I found frames going for as much as they cost new back then and one guy had a complete bike OEM parts that was going for $900.00 bucks at the time I saw the auction and there was still a couple of days left. I love to pick one up but I dont think good ol memories are worth that much.

Yeah... the $1200 or so ride that looks like it was run over at least 3 times by something larger than my revo and yet is still the nicest/best riding/jumping BMX bike in the area...
