Not getting in on Revo2k's comments but reguarding the kids marshalling... it's not that I am not grateful or feel that they are being forced out there. I am actually kind of worried. I know that I got hit a few times and I feel like I was really paying attention. I feel that it is just too dangerous. A good hit from a buggy or MT on a small kid could break bones. I would feel terrible if something happened... I just don't like the situation.

Not sure if anyone remembers at the old track, I watched a guy walk in the door, wald his 6-7 year old daughter onto the track and tell her to flip over the cars when they are turned over. He then proceeded to walk into the pit area and BS with all his friends. about 15 minutes later, the girl got nailed by a LST running Full Throttle, which took her off her feet, and sent her shoe down the straight. When I finally found her father, he never even realized it had happened. I'd hate to see the track end up closing it's doors because a kid gets hurt and the parents decide to sue. It's just sad that a lot of the people involved in the hobby can't take 15-20 minutes (continuous) out of their day to marshall, when there are little kids, who aren't fully aware of the danger involved, are willing to go out there for hours on end. |
