01-25-2008, 07:06 AM
I can get a brand new one, HT pipe, clutch setup and air filter for $140 shipped............Rocco, I know you have experience with these. Tell me what you think about them, the price is really good. Will it be enough for club level racing? What kind of power characteristics are to be expected, what plugs do the like? Do they need shimmed to run 30% out of box? What kind of longeivity can I expect if treated halfway decent
thnaks for any info guys ![]() ![]() |

cool Ryan......thanks, Its NOT what I want(want a p5x) but I am short on $ atm and this wont set me back too bad, run it for a couple mths, then get my p5x
so for $140 NIB shipped for everything, how can I go wrong?? Also, what pipes and plugs do these like, and do they need re-shimmed for 30% from factory? thanks again Trevor |

I never shimed mine for OD 30%. Mine ran great and was easy to tune as well. Mine was version 1 so yours will be even better.
I sold it around the 4-5 gallon mark and was still running great. I think I ran a hot plug in it MC59. Power wise its pretty good. You'll be able to keep up with alot of others and at that price the smiles wont go away...Unless you get a bum one ![]() ![]() MBX5T - O.S. MBX5R - Novarossi Nomadio |

Good Deal. I'd say go for it if you need a motor.
If you dont abosluletly have to run, wait till it gets warm and save your money for the novarossi. Thats another way to do it...cause I dont know if you're like me, if you get it and are dissapointed. You'll spend double getting what you want. Revo 2.5, TRX 3.3 Engine, Center Diff. This is a great engine for the $ and can do well if tuned right. These engines like to be run warm so do be afraid to run them 250 - 260. Brian Kadow runs upfront every time he races with the Dynamite/Sportwerks engines. They do not have alot of bottom end but they do have alot of top end. The Dynamite .007 & .053 pipe both work well with this engine. MC59 also is a great plug and can save you a few $$$,s. You do not need to shim the engine for 30% just make sure you do the heat cycles to break it in. Get the engine up to 200 deg before you ever start it and you will be fine.
Good luck. |

Hey Bro-
Sorry Actually never ran that motor. I always ran xtm 24/7 motors. The are very similar (made by SH) Its a desent mill. Its only really lacking bling factor. Well that and it wont last as long as higher $$$ mills but 5 or 6 gallons for a mill that cheap is worth it. --Then follow the rules! haha!-- -Tune |

Yep. :-D
I'll be getting a buggy soon enough. decided after alot of looking that I wanted to get the Xray Buggy. I know parts supply are limited around here, but...I dont want to jump the mugen and Kyosho bandwagon. I dont know if anyone else is like me, I dont exactly enjoy having the same thing as everyone else. Lol. Revo 2.5, TRX 3.3 Engine, Center Diff. Fast and Turns on a dime. |
