i used to have two nitro trucks and just recently got into electric trucks. i am wondering what the difference between a $10 battery is and a $100 battery?...is it life of it just run time or actually more electricityoir lasting life?..i have like a $10 tower hobbies battery. will it improve my car enough to justify buying like a custom or way nice battery?

There is a huge difference! You get what you payfor with batteries and a 10 buck Tower batt is total garbage. You can get 3300s for 25 these days, and the 100 buck lipo batteries are the wave of the future.
Since youre just getting into electric, get some good GP 3300 or 3600 and a good charger.

Duratrax has a decent 6 cell sport pack 4200 also at around $40.

1. more capacity = longer run time before speed drops off
2. NiMh batt's have less "memory" like old Nicads...they act the same charge after charge
3. many newer batt's have lower internal resistance, so they actually deliver more voltage for longer...more punch

Yeah, the cheap batteries are not going to give you the full performance that your vehicle is capable of. Would you fill a performance car's tank up with discount 87 octane gas? Maybe if all you want is to get from here to there, but your not doing the car justice.
My experience with those cheap batteries was that they stopped taking a charge after a few months due to a cell in the pack going bad. Unfortunately I bought 4 of the darn things. In less than 6 months, none of them worked anymore. I have good batteries that are going on 4 years now and still work. Most of my batteries are between 1 and 3 years old. One is even a Duratrax matched 1900 that won't quit. If you are happy with it for now, thats fine, but I would say to not buy any more of those and save up for good ones.

Get some NiMH or LiPO batteries. 3800 is a good size battery-you really don't need anything higher if you're racing because the race is only 6 minutes. A LiPo is great for bashing because it has such a long run time. The higher the number the longer it will last and the more punch it will have. Keep in mind that a LiPO is much lighter than a NiMH. I prefer to use a 3800 NiMH when I race because my T4 handles better with the weight and it is easier to drive.
