WTB: Carb for TRX2.5 (stock or aftermarket) Cheap - 12-21-2005, 08:48 PM

So, I stripped and broke all screw holes on my TRX 2.5 carb.

Do any of you have a stock or aftermarket one they don't need and willing to let it go cheaply?

It would help me out a lot

Looking to spend around $15 shipped.

Thanks,
Matas

I've got an OS .18TM slide carb you can have for $25 shipped. It's much better than another Traxxas carb.

Not sure if the OS TM carb will work on the TRX 2.5. But I know for sure the OS carb # 10D or 10A will. From what of I have read this makes a huge improvment on the reliability of the TRX2.5. The only problem I have with this mod is the OS 10D carb is over $60.00. Thats more than half the cost of a replacement TRX 2.5 engine on the exchange program.

Ask Bruce to measure the carb base on the TM carb and see if it will fit the TRX 2.5 because that would be the way to go for $25.00.

The 10d gives LESS performance, becuase it is smaller and gives less fuel

From what I have read the performance loss is not enough to notice and the trade off for reliability is worth it. But it would seem obvious since the OS 10D card has a 10mm air horn and the TRX carb has a 14mm air horn. The smaller air horn is going to allow less air which may reduce top end slightly but the trade off is a greatly improved low end response and torque. The 10D could make the 2.5 a wheelie monster if one wanted to. Otherwise you could adjust by changing the clutch engagement and or the gear ratio at the spur gear to try and get less low end and more top end.

I've used the OS .18TM carb on another 2.5r motor already. It works great! Actually, it's now owned by another board member right now.

satoch, I'll take that TM carb from you either today or tomorrow. PM me your PayPal e-mail if you have one.

Thanks for all the suggestions for OS 10D and 10A. But it seems I can't pass the deal satoch is offering. By the way, satoch, does it come complete? Meaning, I just connnect fuel and put air filter on and go?

satoch is getting you a good deal on that. It will work wonders. I would have thought about it for my 2.5 as I have an air leak right now but I am thinking about just picking up a motor from him...

"him" is the person I referred to earlier in the post. Satoch... tex the P5 sounds cool and all but too powerfull and unrealistic to race with. Plus a tad out of my price range right now...

Hmmm... just assumed that when you said if you were to sell it now that you would want $225 that it was open to whoever offered up $225. That's cool though... back to the OS carb now...

IF I was to sell, I would want $225. I was just answering squirrels question when he asked about how much I would ask for it.

As of right now it's not up for sale and it hasn't been....ever. I love the motor to much to give it up that easy. Will I trade it for a complete revo, of course.
