Jefferson crawler????

Shock Oil???? I have actually ran them with just enough oil to keep everything lubed. I personally like a light weight oil. I think I have been using something like 50wt in mine.

It's a jefferson chassied tlt based crawler.lol Sorry if I confused you. I was thinking lighter is better in here due to the wanted articulation. I have some 30,40,50,70,wt I'll throw 30 in there for now. Also do ya'll think a 45t motor is too low? I seen a sweet lookin 60t on rc4wd that might give me the more torgue.

One more q for ya. Do ya'll run a batt pack for the servo or just run them like normal. I have a hitec hs645 on steering and am running a ib4200 pack. Thanks

still dont know what a Jefferson chassis is....

I have ran receiver packs but, now I run a CC BEC, sure beats overloading your ESC in the middle of a comp (Been there, done that). Personally, I would ditch that big stick pack, either go with a rc18 pack, lipo or a custom 2/3 pack. Crawling doesnt take allot of power. As for motors, I used to run 55t in all my trucks, I have since switched to brushless in the 950kv range. Depending on your transmission/gearing the 45t may end up being too fast. My theory has always been to throw the largest turn motor at it and speed it up with gearing... Kind of like putting a Diesel in a Jeep and using a 4:1 low range. If you want a 55t I have some barely used ones (1 I think never was used) sitting on the shelf, I could trade you for that 45t I need a faster motor for a trail truck.

Welcome to UTRCRC - Utah Radio Control Rock Crawlers

here's a link.I'll let you know on the motor. I gotta see how this performs lol. The stick is not a stick anymore. It's becoming a saddle pack. The esc Is a workhorse. The tekin rebel 2 should handle anything I can throw at it. It has a higher amp rating than any one else. You can even run 2 motors on it if you want and 2 packs. I was just curious if I needed more juice lol. The 4200 packs a mean punch and with the 4200 mah I guess I should have no problems with it running down. I ran about 45 mins on it yestarday and charged it this morning and it only took 1200 mah to peak it back out lol. I don't even know the spur size and pinion size yet but guess I'll buy the largest spur traxxas makes for the pede, just to make sure.

I'm gonna go pick up some new wheels for this thing and narrow them out. Any suggestions on plastic wheels. It had wk on it but kinda blah and needed new paint etc. I can't afford beedlocks yet so I'm gonna do these up for now.

wheels, go with the HPI MT Star (rears) they are cheap ($8 at HT) and good backspacing. If you are running stock tlt axles you may want to keep them stock width atleast until you get some wideners.

As for the ESC, I run the Mamba Maxx ESC and overloaded my BEC at the second indoor comp. Part of the problem was I had a mini Servo on the DIG (I still say your getting lucky Ponch). You would be suprised just how much juice a servo will pull when you are bound on a rock.

and as far as that Chassis goes....I need to raise the price on the Talon!!!!

lol I guess thats why the chassis is discontinued. I was seriously thinking of getting one of those talon chassis after I get this thing all done to my likeing. Unfortunatly I just got back from leisure hours and bought the rpm crawler rims. oops . Oh well these will work for now I guess till I get the beadlocks.
