Mich, all 4 broke at the hole for the cross pin. Thanks for PMing Roy. I just got off the phone with him.
Man, I got lucky. After that last pin broke my buddy Gary and I were switching axles and I knew I was 3 mins. down. Then they restarted the race giving me a 2nd chance. I was in 3rd (getting flustered) and then Gabe died giving me 2nd. Gabe, were you running that 17t I gave you? You should be alright with a 17/36 (like me) or maybe an 18/38. That will take some of the torque out of the bottom end but try not to rear end me after that cuz that thing is going to be INSANE!!! |

Mich, I'm the only guy that's broken the new ones he said. I told him it might be my insanely fast TNT Mods motor! LOL!!
Seriously, he is totally stumped. I didn't crank down on the 22mm nut (I use a dab of Locktite) and I didn't crank down on the 5mm set screw (same thing). He says they've tested them for 6 months with 7-10 different drivers. It's not like I'm a basher jumping of a 30 ft building and landing sideways on the rim! I barely tapped you! And the odds of my getting metallurgically inferior products twice are odds comparable to winning the lottery! Ain't gonna happen. I told him I don't think they should be using a 5mm grub screw but a 3mm. Leave some more meat on the axle. He's sending me more but what good is that? I've already broken 4 in two outings. |

I just want to say that I'm really proud to be a part of this particular RC scene. I know there are a lot of good racers around the country and many of them have better weather so they can practice all year round. But I've been noticing that the Chi-Town boys seem to dominate every midwest race we've been to this summer. That's very cool. Having the privelege of racing with you guys over the last year has really helped me to improve immensely and I thank you all for that. We all have a tendency to think that the enemy is bigger and badder than he really is. Trust me, from what I've seen in Dallas, racing the best of the best, you guys are right there with them! Period!
